lefty Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 Not that the Flash Speeder is my favorite vehicle or vessel from Star Wars, but the set was definitely one of my favorites when I was younger. So, I have set out to try and bring the speeder to more modern bricking standards. The 1 x 6 slopes are available in green, but in very few numbers in very few sets (and ones I would never have considered buying) and the 2x are not available in green, according to Peeron. So I would need six for this design. You can tell I had three Flash Speeder sets from the three security guards, but I've only been able to find one hat so far. I replaced most of the arms and legs with dark tan, which I think looks pretty snazzy: Not so sure about the belt however. Looks too busy. So far I have to decide on an engine design, and do the controls. The "bottom" engine is nicer to look at, but is really piece intensive. The "top" design, though not assembled here, was relatively simple with a 4x4 plate not quite attached at a slope, which I somehow picked up as the design of the engines, though looking later the engines are rather flat in profile. No clue. Side view, nothing special but the minifigs fit in very well, with their arms going over the side without being raised up by their heads awkwardly. The spoiler/gun mount is two hinge bricks so it doesn't look too chunky from the front. Side panel removed, showing the inside connections. Again, nothing special. The "back seat" is a plate w/handle attached to a clip, which allows the minifig to "sit" up on the edge of the cockpit (like so) And finally, a picture of an alternate spoiler which is less movie accurate but I thought looked pretty cool: Haven't seen many Flash Speeder MOCs, I hope my terrible pictures and cropping didn't turn anybody off Quote
Huntleyfx Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 Interesting. I really like the idea of updating the Flash to fit in with modern sets better, but I think it really needs the green. The front colors do look good, but it takes away from the 'canon' look a little bit. On the positive ide, I definitly think you are on the right track. Quote

I would have much rather had an all-green flash speeder to show off, I suppose I could try bricklink for the first time. They are only around 5 cents... Until then, I dunno, we could pretend it's a super special mary sue squad or something. Quote

Once you find out how easy it is to get exactly what parts you want...your LEGO will never be the same again. They don't call it "Cracklink" lightly. Quote
mutley777 Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 Very nice work on the speeder, the design looks great! The shape of the main hull is very good. I do agree with huntley the green slopes ar the way to go. BL is a fantastic place to shop for lego but also as huntley said buying there can get very addictive. I am at 300 feedback, with nearly all that as a buyer. Quote
hym Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 I think the fig would look better, if the legs were be just brown. But that´s just my opinion. The Speeder is great! Quote
