davidmull Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 Im a while looking for a set of these wheels but they are crazy money on brick link,20-25 euro per wheel,I can buy tires for my car for that price, can someone please explain why they are so expensive or would anyone know someone selling a set (new) . Thanks in advance. Quote
DLuders Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 (edited) The Lego Technic Power Puller Set 8457 was the only one to feature the HUGE "Technic Power" tires -- the 32298pb01 "Tire Technic Power Puller with 'TECHNIC POWER' White Pattern": The Power Puller's WHEELS are not as rare -- the 22969 "Wheel 62mm D. x 46mm Technic Racing Large" were featured in 5 Technic sets: It's a matter of "Supply and Demand". If you don't care whether the tire says "Technic Power" or not, the plain 32298 tire (from the 8466 4x4 Off Roader set) may be an option. It is listed as a "Tire Technic Power Puller" in Bricklink. zewy623 Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 i know this is kinda off topic, but would the Wheel 62mm D. x 46mm Technic Racing Large wheels fit on the unimog or are they of different size of wheel? the link to the bricklink page: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?P=22969&in=S Quote
timslegos Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 Lego should definitively make another set with these wheels! tim Quote
DLuders Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 @ zewy623: SNIPE asked the same question -- yes, the Unimog's x1825 tires do fit on the 22969 wheels. See my photos and descriptions on this Flickr photoset. Quote
zewy623 Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 (edited) @DLuders Thank you. I knew I saw something somewhere before but i couldnt remember where. and is it recomended that i can do that, or would it ruin the tire after time since im rcing my mog? Edited December 1, 2011 by zewy623 Quote
zewy623 Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 (edited) @DLuders Nice picture! I just have to wait for my mog to get here. oh and do you reccomend the tire being on the inner or outer rim on the wheel? Edited December 1, 2011 by zewy623 Quote
DLuders Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 (edited) @ zewy623: I would recommend putting the tire on the outside of the 22969 wheels, to make them "fat". If you were to mount the tire on the inner rim, the profile of the tire does not change at all so you might as well mount them on the Unimog's standard wheels. Be sure to read all of the comments on each photo in that Flickr photoset. Edited December 1, 2011 by DLuders Quote
zewy623 Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 @DLuders Are those wheels chromed or just silver plastic or glittery or what? I've always thought they were kinda shiny like metal or chrome and i thought they would be more accurate to actual wheels if I didn't get black. Quote
KEvron Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 The Lego Technic Power Puller Set 8457 was the only one to feature the HUGE "Technic Power" tires i believe the tires for Off-Roader, #8466, are the same as the puller tires, just without the markings. regardless, they're fetching the same price, more or less, as the puller's. Darth Dino Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 (edited) Hi i wanted 8 of those Powerpuller wheels for mocing and bought one and a half set of the Offroader. The first complete set was described as dusty and i got it for 60€, the half set was described as "Monster tires" without naming the set origin. This one contained the whole chassis of the Offroader including the wheels, suspension, steering and so on. It got it for just 30€, both sets on Ebay Germany. As you see there are cheaper ways to get those tires if you do not care about the technic printing on the sides. Getting as in bad condition (dusty) or wrong (no setnumber! "Monstertires") described is the easiest way to do so. If have now a vy god chassis base for an 8x8 truck for just 90€. Alternatively you can order a new and sealed one from Ebay Germany for 450€ -ha -ha... Dino Edited December 1, 2011 by Darth Dino Quote
le60head Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 Thanks for the tip! I got mine cheaply from Ebay DE as well. The set 8466 costed me 44.39 Euro (no shipping included). It was in superb condition, with only 3 or 4 parts damaged and about 5-6 missing. I ordered the missing parts for around 10 Euro from bricklink. After a quick wash it was good as new :) I'd say I'm a happy camper :) More like happy offroad-er Quote
davidmull Posted December 1, 2011 Author Posted December 1, 2011 Just got a price for 4 new ones with the white writing for €100 including postage, would others pay this for wheels? Quote
DLuders Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 No, it's too much money. I have a feeling that the upcoming (2012) Technic Rock Crawler set may have the "Power Puller" tires and wheels, mounted on the Unimog's Portal Axle pieces. Wait a few months for details about that set. Quote
zewy623 Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 @DLuders The same wheels might be used but there has to be new tires made mor out of soft rubber, which are better for climbing, and i think the portal hubs from the mog are too small for a rock crawler, so we might get bigger ones or extensions to them. Plus i think that the new mini turntable will have alot to do with the suspension and the degrees of the tilting of the axles. Quote

Blakbird Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 @DLuders Are those wheels chromed or just silver plastic or glittery or what? I've always thought they were kinda shiny like metal or chrome and i thought they would be more accurate to actual wheels if I didn't get black. They are "metallic silver". Not chrome, they are actually painted. They do have a metallic look though. Quote
zewy623 Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 @Blakbird Ok thanks. I know in the past lego had used some kind of shiny paint to make certain things look chromed but i wasn't sure about the wheels. Quote
Blakbird Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 @Blakbird Ok thanks. I know in the past lego had used some kind of shiny paint to make certain things look chromed but i wasn't sure about the wheels. I would not call them shiny. There are some real chrome LEGO parts, but these are not it. More metallic than gray, but not reflective. From a distance, they actually look like regular gray. Quote
KEvron Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 I would not call them shiny.... More metallic than gray, but not reflective. they have the look of brushed aluminum. KEvron Quote
