Guedelon Castle

For all those of you who still need a little inspiration about how medieval life actually looked like I highly recommend to learn about Guedelon Castle, a project in France where experimentel archeologist got together to build a castle with only the technology available in the 13the century. It's a truely awesome project and I'm planning to visit it next summer.

You can start learning about Guedelon on this site but there is way more footage available on youtube etc., check it out, it's really cool and absolutely inspirational!!

And for those on this side of the Atlantic the same guy is doing one in Arkansas as well. At both sites I believe you can volunteer to help build the castle.

Truly a fantastic project, we've all seen tons of hundred-year old crumbling castles but when finished this will look as one in it's prime. Awesome.

I like the American project too, especially since it's build on a slope and with a different kind of rock. The only thing that bugs me about it it the ominpresent Stars and Stripes in about every second picture, somehow not very medieval ...
