CM4Sci Posted June 21, 2012 Posted June 21, 2012 Today I got the 10228 build. Within 3 hours I was all ready and has a nice set but not for 180 euros. Oh I was a Lego exhibition in Germany. Huh? You already have the Haunted House? What's with the music? -Sci Quote
vynsane Posted June 21, 2012 Posted June 21, 2012 I think there have certainly been far worse offenders: this is just terrible looking to me. To be fair, that's basically a 'magazine' of missiles that can easily be taken out. It's not 'permanently affixed' (as much as LEGO bricks can be permanently affixed) meaning it's not even a 'mod' to remove it - it's built to be removable. Quote
KristofBD Posted June 21, 2012 Posted June 21, 2012 Huh? You already have the Haunted House? What's with the music? -Sci I guess that's not the right link Nevertheless I quite enjoyed it Quote
just2good Posted June 21, 2012 Posted June 21, 2012 Huh? You already have the Haunted House? What's with the music? -Sci 'legomilk' always posts that now. But he is very lucky to have the haunted house already... Quote
Amset-Rah Posted June 21, 2012 Posted June 21, 2012 In regards to the quality problem, my Werewolf set is still in excellent condition. No cracks on either side of the minifigs or parts, no discoloration, misprints or chipped paint, it's perfect. Just putting that out there. Quote
AndyC Posted June 21, 2012 Posted June 21, 2012 Just putting that out there. To keep things balanced though, my poor Ann Lee has a massive scar right through her eye, TLG should really pack the figs more carefully. It's even worse for the Zombies, those guys look like somebody has beaten the life out of them.... Quote
CM4Sci Posted June 21, 2012 Posted June 21, 2012 (edited) Never mind. I feel like an idiot. I thought you meant like a line through the eye. ._. -Sci Edited June 21, 2012 by CM4S Quote
GuntherThePenguin Posted June 21, 2012 Posted June 21, 2012 Wow, what a bunch of brainless fools in that comment stream. One set bought by one person has insufficient dye in some of the parts of one colour, and apparently "the quality of the plastic is poor" "Don't buy 9466, all those sets are poor quality" "Don't buy Monster Fighters, all the sets are poor quality" "All Lego released at the moment is poor quality" "I assume the sand green in the castle is identically affected" "All the swamp creatures have off printing" "Lego is no better than M*gabl*ks despite more expensive" etc etc... Claims that quality is going downhill and you never have problems with pieces from 70s are balls. Ever heard of yellowing? Leave any Lego in the sun for 10 minutes and it would go yellow. Doesn't do it these days. Claims the old pieces never break, and old minifigs never have problems are also balls. Torsos and arms used to crack, all the joints would go loose and refuse to hold a pose. Heads would refuse to be removed from helmets and hairpieces. Plates could not be separated, and would crack easily. Clips broke easily. I don't have the Frankestein's monster set, but I have 4 of the others from this line and have noticed NO problems with printing (including the swamp creature), translucency/opacity, colour consistency, brick softness/brittleness, clutch power too much/little, instructions wrong/difficult to read/scrunched... I paid reasonable money for excellent products. If anything, in general Lego is higher quality than it ever has been. Printing of minifigs is amazing, far better than it ever was before. True, every now and then something not-so-good creeps in, (eg pink Kingdoms knights, problems with early CMFs, ripped instructions, off-printing, incorrect gold bars, inconsistent colour: brown had a real issue for a little while) but TLG ALWAYS provides excellent customer service and fixes the problems. So to sum up, don't hold off buying anything because of this. In the unlikely event of you receiving something you deem as not-good-enough, contact TLG's customer service and they fix it for free. What do you have to lose? Um, favorite comment of the year!!! Anyway, that Haunted House set.... Yeah, um, I'm gunna need that... PRONTO! Quote

Lance Posted June 22, 2012 Posted June 22, 2012 Huh? You already have the Haunted House? What's with the music? -Sci Yeah, didn't you know? 'legomilk' has a DeLorrean! Seriously, though, sometimes TLG send out upcoming sets to people that are close to the company to test them and see they're reaction to the set. That or 'legomilk' DOES in fact have a DeLorrean Quote

Amset-Rah Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 Agreed on both the comment and the Haunted House. Amset Rah's comment may be the best Eurobricks comment EVER. Aww, you're just saying that. I'm just really satisfied with the set and the theme as a whole. even though the Werewolf is the only one I have thus far, it's still a great set, though I did modify Major Steel's car a bit (I mixed it with the old Scorpion Tracker Adventurers set) so it could have a place to put the moon stone (A small flaw I saw with the set) Quote
tim636100 Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 Last night got my lego Vampyre castle. It is an astonishing set with lots of cool pieces. Lord Vampyre is awesome. By the way, this set also consists of 25 LEGO bricks, which look like real bricks. I was quite surprised with that :classic: Quote
Blondie-Wan Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 It's interesting to me just how substantial a theme Monster Fighters is. I mean, I assume it's intended to be another "one wave and done" fantasy action theme along the lines of World Racers, Pharaohs Quest, Alien Conquest and so on, but it's one of the largest such themes they've ever done - seven general retail sets ranging from $7.99 to $99.99 USD (including sets at both the $79.99 and $99.99 price points; other such themes so far have had the second most expensive set top out at $60 or $70 if they also have a $100 set, but not MF), plus a vendor exclusive, at least one polybag promo, and a big, beautiful, expensive LEGO Direct set on top of all that. They certainly appear to have gone all out for a single-wave theme... Perhaps TLG just loves the theme so much and didn't want to pass up on any particular archetypal monster that it wanted to make sure the theme had enough sets for all of them; I could certainly understand that, given how appealing I find the line myself. Or could it be that they see potential for more than just one wave here? Obviously, however much company insiders might personally enjoy a theme, all their decisions about what to release will be based on what their honest best estimates of the commercial potential of the individual sets (and the line in general) are, and they wouldn't release any of these if they didn't think they'd sell; I wonder what their sales expectations are like. Dare we hope for another wave, after all? Quote

Scubacarrot Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 If there is to be a TV show, I imagine there will be more sets too, but who knows? (yet) I really hope that there will be more sets in this theme. I very much enjoy this theme, owning four of the sets at this point, and certainly planning to get more. I love that Lego is going in a direction where vehicles are less important, and that there seem to be more and more buildings, really like that change. Trying to be as objective as possible: I think this theme holds a lot of interest with both AFOLS and the general kid lego-fans, would be a shame if this had only one wave, in my opinion, there is still so much they can go for! Aanchir Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 I really hope that there will be more sets in this theme. I very much enjoy this theme, owning four of the sets at this point, and certainly planning to get more. I love that Lego is going in a direction where vehicles are less important, and that there seem to be more and more buildings, really like that change. I'm not entirely sure how you see that in this theme, where almost all of the sets include vehicles and only about three feature buildings of any kind. True, that's more buildings than in some other recent action themes like Atlantis, Pharaoh's Quest, Dino or Power Miners, but rare is the theme these days that doesn't include at least one impressive building. I think the fact that there are more in this particular theme has more to do with it being a concept (monster hunting) where buildings play an important role than with a trend towards more and more location-based sets. Just look at this year's Ninjago, where besides tiny "shrines", there's only one set with a location-based structure (plus the spinner arena sets of course). Then compare that to last year when the flagship set for the year (the Fire Temple) was primarily location-based and there were at least three other major location-based sets (Garmadon's Dark Fortress, the Mountain Shrine, and the Spinjitzu Dojo). Even the spinner arenas like Skeleton Bowling or Ultimate Battle Arena were very complex architecturally. So all in all I don't see a shift towards more location-based sets in general. This particular theme has quite a few, just as Ninjago did last year, but that's no indication that this is part of a continuing trend. Quote

Well, I am not talking about Ninjago, I think Ninjago actually started the trend for the action themes, but themes like Fantasy Era, Agents, Power miners were very vehicle heavy, I think I see a trend where there are more buildings. Maybe I'm wrong? But I think it's there. I like to think so, at least Quote
Vindicare Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 I own and have built all but 9468 Vampyres Castle and 9463 The Werewolf. They were all neat builds and even nicer sets. I was really only planning to buy 9468 and 9466. But ended up getting the whole line. And don't get me started on 10228 Haunted House, that set is a thing of beauty. What other theme has had such a big, D2C set on it's first wave? I think that stands as evidence that the theme may be around for awhile. I guess we'll find out in the next few months when rumors start flying. Quote

To me, the theme feels like one of these (planned) single-wave action themes, but I could always see TLG deciding to do one or more additional waves for a theme, beyond their initial plans, if it sells substantially better than expected. A few things I'm seeing suggest that it is indeed doing very well, so perhaps we'll get lucky... Quote
