Mukaksi Posted May 7, 2012 Posted May 7, 2012 I got the Zombies, a PAB-Cup and a starwars-keychain on may 4th for the promo. Haven't had time to put it up yet but the zombies sure look awesome. They go great with the Minifigures S1 Zombie. Quote

ZO6 Posted May 7, 2012 Posted May 7, 2012 As with many of the rest of you, the more I see of these sets the more I love them. Save for the Mummy carriage (which isn't terrible per say, just very uninspired), all the rest of the sets look fantastic. I will however be modding a lot of these sets to give them more functionality. At the moment, the boat in the swamp creature set looks like it is sitting on smooth inverted tiles. I want to swap those out for a wheel that can be rigged up to drive the rear propeller. With the small flying chair in the Mummy set, I want to incorporate a little gearbox to drive the propeller. As for the ghost train, I'm going to use many cues taken from the old Time Twisters train and make it so that the wheels on the cars drive various functions. If TLG was able to pack loads of play features into those Time Twister sets, I don't see why that shouldn't happen with the Monster Fighter sets too. Quote
305Bats Posted May 7, 2012 Posted May 7, 2012 It's out of stock now but TRU.com has the Vampire Hearse listed at $39.99,I know they mark up Lego sets, but is that we should expect the price for the Zombies set to be? They seem to me like they should be comparable in price. Quote
Fuppylodders Posted May 7, 2012 Posted May 7, 2012 (edited) The Monster Fighters look ridiculous with their cyborg limbs and with a few exceptions, I don't understand how all the cybernetics come into it. Well surely after you had been hunting monsters for years, and had a few nasty scrapes/infectious bites etc, you'd have lost limbs/had to have them amputated for fear of infection spreading, thus giving way for cybernetic replacement limbs. How could you not see that? I personally think they have done really well with the monster designs, and the whole theme gives a nice refreshing horror taste to it anyways. That train will be the first of my purchases of them, I find it just draws me into it... and then I'll struggle to decide which I'll want next after that because I like them all! Thankfully my girlfriend will probably be getting the castle so I can tick that off my need to get list Edited May 7, 2012 by Fuppylodders Quote
Ardelon Posted May 7, 2012 Posted May 7, 2012 So far, the only set I'm really sold on remains the swamp monster, and probably the zombie set, if it shows up here (probably not). The others are unappealing or beyond my budget. It is a nice theme though, I'm glad the non-licensed themes are high in quality, if not quantity. As for the set names, I for one like that they kept them simple and to the point. Quote
Blob of Nothingness Posted May 7, 2012 Posted May 7, 2012 God, this theme looks awesome. Too much awesome stuff this year, with Dino, Lord of the Rings, Monster Fighters, Ninjago, SW, etc. My wallet is sad. Quote

ZO6 Posted May 7, 2012 Posted May 7, 2012 The wings flap when the wheels move. Whoops, completely forgot about those wings, thanks. I just rewached the videos from the NY toy show and the wings seem to be the only things that move when the train is pushed. As such I do want to do more modding to make other things move and spin when the train is pushed. Afterall, it's a relatively expensive set with lots of pieces, so I'd like to spruce it up as much as possible. Quote
305Bats Posted May 8, 2012 Posted May 8, 2012 Someone please fill me in on that haunted house in the video! Quote
Algernon Posted May 8, 2012 Posted May 8, 2012 Someone please fill me in on that haunted house in the video! Nothing to report, I'm afraid; although we're more or less certain that the set exists, it has yet to be properly revealed. Everything is just speculation for now. Quote
Omega X Posted May 8, 2012 Posted May 8, 2012 I find that the Ghost train is extremely expensive considering the fact that there is almost nothing it can do! I don't count flick-fire missiles as a feature now because it is so commonly used! Besides the flapping wings on the sides, I don't think there is anything left. TLG is probably installing a lot of Glow-in-the-dark parts for this reason. Otherwise it is the set that is the most interesting for me, if not because of the sad lack of features(in the train itself). At least make the ghost train conductor a little different from the rest? P.S. This is only my own opinion. no offence intended. Quote
Fives Posted May 8, 2012 Posted May 8, 2012 (edited) I haven't really been following this topic, but I stumbled upon this while looking around: Even though I don't plan on buying these sets, those zombie bride and groom figs look amazing! EDIT: Found this review of the set: http://www.brickhorizon.com/boardz/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=3207 Edited May 8, 2012 by Fives Quote
ZO6 Posted May 8, 2012 Posted May 8, 2012 Thanks as always for the newest pics, Grogall! Fives - thanks for sharing the link to Yoda's review. That set looks fantastic. I really love the overall design, and the numerous play functions are a huge treat. Some minor modding methinks, mainly for the axles between the two outer graves - at the moment they look a bit conspicuous and I therefore want to blend them in with the architecture. Quote
Sid Sidious Posted May 9, 2012 Posted May 9, 2012 (edited) What is printed on the crystal in the zombies set? You can see it clearly in the picture from the review below, but I can't make out what it is supposed to be. Edited May 9, 2012 by Sid Sidious Quote
Sid Sidious Posted May 9, 2012 Posted May 9, 2012 A hand raising form the undead. That makes sense. I thought those things were horns or something. Quote

I am convinced it's a minifig's arm rising out of the ground. ('Cause, you know... zombies.) Edit: damn, someone beat me to it. But, yeah, that is what it is. Edited May 9, 2012 by Capt. Darn it, I've been beat to it. Twice. Edited May 9, 2012 by just2good Quote
SpiderSpaceman Posted May 9, 2012 Posted May 9, 2012 It reminds me of the Shaun of the Dead logo. The vampire's moonstone is blatantly Bacardi Quote
Jippon Posted May 9, 2012 Posted May 9, 2012 Hmmm.. not sure if this is the right place to post this, but the monster fighter sets are up for pre-order in The Netherlands (at a nice discount + free shipping too). Brickshop They are expected tot ship June 1. Quote
just2good Posted May 9, 2012 Posted May 9, 2012 (edited) 'DoctorBrikDady' has done a review of the Vampyre Hearse on YouTube! Edited May 9, 2012 by just2good Quote
