Dharkan Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 Hello everyone, First of all I wasn't quite sure where to open the topic but decided that this is the most suitable for it. Anyway, my question is about the lego game Heroica, It looks quite interesting but I have some doubts about it. Is it fun for people who are not into Lego aswell or only for Lego fans? I'm thinking about buying it but don't wanna end up finding noone who wants to play the game other than me and my brother. :P And also do you think it's fun or gets boring too fast? I hope my questions were clear enough. Kind Regards, Burak. Quote
Hersbrucker Posted November 20, 2011 Posted November 20, 2011 Hi, I'm a fan of Heroica, that's a nice game and you have enough space for own laws. If you like to buy one or two Set's, I think its getting boring after a few rounds. If you have all 4 games, the game have more changes. I build my own landscape for the game, I will show this in a own topic. Quote
SilvaShado Posted November 20, 2011 Posted November 20, 2011 We've enjoyed the games so far. It is more fun with more people. And the more of the sets you have, the more fun and longer the game is. If you just have one of the games, it can go by pretty fast. Also, it's got such an open rule set that you can create your own rules and add on new areas. I bought an extra Ninjago board game and I'm planning on modifying it for Heroica. I'm going to create an ability for each of the ninjas and damage levels for the skeletons. Then I'm going to modify the board to fit in with the Heroica boards. At some point, I'm hoping to get some of the microfigures from the Champion game because it has some female microfigures that would be fun to add to Heroica. Oh and we have almost all of the LEGO board games. Heroica is my favorite with the Harry Potter one a close second. Hope that helps in making your decision. Quote
Cutty Posted November 20, 2011 Posted November 20, 2011 I own only two Heroica games, namely Fortaan and Waldurk, and like them for their easy to follow rules and the imaginative set up of each game, which means that you have some layouts to choose from even if you play "rules-as-written". My only dislike would be that if you don't have someone to play the monsters side, those monsters would stay still on the board waiting for a player to defeat them. Somewhat counter-climatical I might add. So, if you have more than two players I'd recommend for someone playing the monsters. Or for the hero-players to take turns in playing the monsters additionally. Gameplay-wise Heroica is a solid boardgame with HUGE potential for additional combat and level-up rules (you might take a look into Dungeons-and-Dragons or older stuff like HeroQuest) of your own design or borrowed/inspired by other games (see above!). I like the games and would strongly urge anyone even remotely interested to give the concept a try: Some might find it has not enough "depth" to it, yet I value it for its easy-to-grasp rules while being competitive and challenging at the same time. I will not hold back that, at least for my tastes, multiples of each game will come in handy should you choose to design your own expansions. I'd say go get either Draida with Waldurk or Nathuz, or Fortaan as a standalone set for starters. I own Fortaan and Waldurk and had a blast playing both combined. Be well! Cutty Quote
