So none of you are fighting? And we're the tight wearing fairy's.

I'm not a Kaliphlinianite but... Yes. I expect Mitgardia to follow suit, preferring to fight our enemies over our neighbors.

We can just have it all settled in the arena. Armies cost too much to maintain... and they cause anarchy once the war is over -- see upcoming moc....

Yup, armies are really expensive to maintain :( that's why I send my army to other places to "look" for gold :p anyway, I am already a lord of a beautifull and independent city (as in I am almost free to rule how I want) so I dont like changes at this moment :)

However, we will be more than happy to step out of this boring peace and fight some good old fashioned wars in the nocturnus and avalonia :p

Truth be told, I haven't heard of these Desert Kings, and I don't see a reason to support them. However, if assistance is needed my forces do have a standing army available to fight.

I think The Desert Kings is Lost Vega's football (AKA Soccer) team, not sure though...

Oh yeah, now I remember where the rumours come from! They lost the final against the Petraea Flags again (for the 3rd year in a row) and now they were talking about taking over some players of the Flags!

Anyway, even if they can bribe some of the soccerplayers of the Flags, they won't make a chance this year against the Tigers of Mpya Stedor!

So many leadership changes! We don't need one. I have a preemptive solution before the anarchy befalls us too.

We keep Flagg as our Ceremonial leader and ruler, only bother him every third Tuesday of every three months, and we go about ruling this place as a Noble Council (we should probably call ourselves the Trade Federation, muhahaha) as we have been doing. Any member of Kaliphlin who has shown some interest in guiding the fate of our mighty guild should be allowed to participate in our ruling council - somewhat a parliament with open leadership. Only stipulation is that only one character from each builder may have a place on the council -- so that would mean I couldn't put Paulos, Petera, and Dugal all on the council (it also means that every builder only gets one vote). The in character location of the meeting would be in a great parliament building built in Petraea. Finally, out of character decisions could be made by a smaller group of long standing builders (no offense new people, you all can join in too, a bit later) Si is still our commander, but when he is not around Robuko, Kai, Masa, Kayne, DM, and myself could run the show, administratively. It seems that one of us are always around. I may be forgetting some people here, maybe Eryn if she wants? (I would add in Gideon and Nightstalker as well, but I was going for people who have been here about a year or more at first, although both are capable builders and key members of our guild) There are many others, but this was just the people I was thinking were "always" around. Again almost everything would be decided by the larger group, other than small out of character things.

if we decide to do this... Paulos is calling the first meeting of the Noble Council to investigate this "Desert Kings" thing... Just in case it is more than just a football team. (I have a guild challenge in mind here, not good since I am already on the hook for another one)

I'm actually behind this decision. If these "Desert Kings" are out to usurp Flagg, we might want to deal with them before they get the chance to get stronger or worse amass an army.

I agree that a council would be nice. How about we do something like this... to be able to be part of the council, you must build something showing, say, your figure running for a council slot or in council, or some council-related topic. That can be judged then by the current council members and if they think it's good enough then that person will become a council member. To start the council off the specified people would build, but of course they wouldn't be judged (or could be judged by the rest of the specified people? - but they would probably make it anyway).

I like the idea of a council as that would make organizing guild challenges, awarding specific titles (as Si suggested at the beginning if I recall correctly), etc. easier.

Some great ideas but I would add that in order to be on the council, the character must be a ruler of one of Kaliphlin's cities/towns. DaMaximus' character would be Lord of Mpya Stedor, Ska's Lord of Eastgate, etc, etc. If a member character isn't currently the ruler of a city, they can always adopt a city to "rule". This way a majority of Kaliphlin locations can be represented in the council.

I agree that that's a good idea. Fits in fine with my character as I am planing on going and founding my own city (Auner, I actually mentioned it a long time ago) soon anyways.

Minister of External Affairs Aturl Prndrn speaks for the Nestlands Clans High Ministry on external matters. He is the one who hammered out the trade deals with the Mpya Stedor and Berigora representatives, as well as a Mitgardian shipping contract.

Addendum, Gedren has been here the whole(?) time too, so if he wanted to be on the OOC council right away, I would support that.

Also, there are some regular builders who don't lay claim to a territory -- Eryn and NM (I think?) come to mind, so maybe "wealth" should be the determination rather than land. It is more Kaliphlinite after-all.

Finally I hear something again about that city  If I remember right it was somewhere very close to Mpya Stedor? (in the Ghuba-ya Biashara bay)

Wealth may not be any better deciding factor as I'm not sure all characters are wealthy either. I still think that Kaliphlin members who wish to join the council should represent a city/town. If ruling a city doesn't fit their main character, they can always use another character. And if two members want to rule the same pre-set city such as Barqa, etc, they could have a MOC-off to see who gets to claim rulership of the city.

I think the council idea is a great one, I would be interested in it. We should probably run it by the "higher powers" though just to make sure before we make too many plans. I think it fits perfectly with the way things work in Kaliphlin.

My main character doesn't fit too well though, as I lay no claim to city or mighty wealth. I always just went with Amelia living out of Petraea since there are not too many people stationed there. If need be though I can invent/MOC a story to remedy that, I have been looking at resurrecting some of my Challenge 5 ideas.

I had to go back to see when I joined, it was all the way back on 11/9/2011- Has it really been that long?

I wonder when Si-MOCs will check up on Kaliphlin and give us his thoughts...

We'd probably be better off PMing him or something...

Anyone thinking of bolting?

I am staying.

Since we will be randomly allotted a side in the Civil War of Nocturnus, some of us will be competing against one another. Although I would think it hilarious of DM ended up fighting against the Drow!!! I hope the "randomizer" takes into account some historical allegiances.

Finally, do you all think many people will be coming to the sands?
