*Update*

I know I have forgotten to include a legend, I'll work on that but for now:

A star represents a capital/citidel. the pools with dots around them are marshes. solid circles are towns (an extra circle indicates a port). broken empty circles are abandoned towns. broken towers are ruined castles. fences/'three downward lines with a stroke through' them indicates farmland.

Also, I've used the decals from a post by I Scream Clone so credit to him too (if he is the creator).

Hello everyone.

I have been following the disucssion on guilds recently which put a few ideas in my head and therefore decided to put my cartography skills to the test.

Where to start? There were some difficult decisions to make when placing the factions. This map reflects my very loose and liberal interpretation of Lego Castle lore, in respect to faction style, geography and alignment. There is some room for further experimentation (could the falcons go in the east? or maybe swapped with the Dragon Masters etc) and not every one may agree with my choices but hopefully you enjoy this all the same...

Lego world map

The Lore:

Black Falcons: Lawful Neutral - Conservative mercenary kingdom, easily defended by mountain ranges and fortifications. Ruled by a citidel on the outcropping of land known as 'The Iron Fist'. Allows the free travel of merchants but unconcerned with the affairs of others unless there is a good profit involved.

Bull Knights: Chaotic Neutral - Barbarian men of the wild North East, loosely organised under a king. Enjoy a good raid, peace with them is fragile at best. Wild forests and mountains, rolling hills and a stoney coast line.

Crown Lands: Lawful Good - The largest Kingdom, I put the crownies in the centre (they represent the house of the King to me). The 3 Lion Knight factions have sworn fealty to them. There exists a certain degree of corruption within their political system and certain figures may not always have the peoples interests at heart... The kingdom boasts the most fertile lands in the realm and is a mixture of mountains, lakes, woods, pleasant countryside and riverlands.

Dragon Knights: Chaotic Good - Free folk that live in the cold north, excellent warriors but unable to compete with the political schemings of the Royal Kingdoms. Geography is a mixture of Mountains, pine forests, rivers and farmland to the south (Skyrim anyone?)

Dragon Masters: Neutral Lawful/Order - A sort of mercantile and arcane faction, I'm currently building a medieval MOC with an Eastern/exotic feel and they make great city guards with their elaborate helmets and mustaches aplenty. So they've been given a desert kingdom.

Dwarves: Neutral Good - The dwarven kingdom lies in a heart of a mountain range where they are able to explore underground without too much trouble from the surface world. Enjoy trade with most non-evil factions.

Elves: True Neutral - Occupy a large region of woodland inbetween the Lion and Dragon Knight kingdoms. Enjoy good relations with the Dragon Knights as they are viewed as less industrialised and closer to nature than the Crown Kingdoms.

Forestmen: Chaotic Good, made up of exiles and opponents of the Monarchy who fight injustice and corruption. Based in the Kings Woods to the west of the Capital.

Orcs: Chatic Evil, a loose confederation of tribes that occupte the Horde Lands to the North East.

Undead: Neutral Evil, A dead city on the edge of a great salt lake. Rulers tolerate a couple of slaver/piracy ports to the north in return for heavy tribute.

Vampire Bat faction: Lawful Evil : A land of mostly black volcanic desert and mountains, ruled from a Dark Citidel atop a solitary peak on the peninsular. Includes the Spider Jungle to the south and a mercantile port ruled by Dark Mages.

Vikings: Chaotic Neutral, launch raids over the entire west coast of the mainland from their ports on the Dagger Isles.

Tolkien would be proud. :laugh: This map is fantastic. I love the detail. What about all the Lion factions, though? Do they have backstories? I always imagined Leo's Knights and the the Crusaders (the other Lions) had split off from eachother for their own reasons, if you need an idea.

It's soooo briliant! :thumbup:

I would only change:

Orcs from chaotic evil to neutral evil. I would love them to have an ally (Dragons or Wolfgang)

Skeletons- chaotic evil- They hate every other race.

Idea: Lions were a one big kingdom once but now they divided (That's why there are 3 diferent Lion crests. If so they should start in one place in map.

Maybe adding a Far East Faction would be possible... Ninja and so on!

Also I would love to have Hobbits in there... but I think, Lego never made a Hobbit Faction. :cry_sad:

I kind of agree. Though I'm sure for now it's only official factions, factions like the Ninja (and, heck, maybe even the Pirates, minus the Coats) would be really interesting to see here.

Great work Viceroy! A very impressive map depicting the locations of the castle factions. Just one question, where are the Black Knights? Or have I managed to miss them?

Elves are like an ecologically aware Switzerland! They even speak in a language only theyself understand.

Seriously, great map. Lots of borders to protect for the elves. Crownies are indeed a bit industrial, with their Castles made from stone and what not.

I would also agree with what Lordofthedragonss wrote about Orcs and Skeletons.

CallMePieOrDie: Thanks. I'm still deciding where they fit in. As a child I was only familiar with Dragon Masters, Wolf Pack and Forestmen and only became interested in Castle again this summer so the other factions are not so well known to me. I meant for all the Lion factions to have their own kingdoms, perhaps for the moment they are at peace due to an alliance with the Crown Knights but civil war is on the horizon.

Lordofdragonss: I can imagine the orcs teaming up with the Wolf Pack for raids and trade. The wolfpack need to spend their ill-gotten gains somehow!

Skalldyr: I like Hobbits too. Perhaps they could have one of the unclaimed islands to the west. Maybe I'll design an eastern section of the map. Ninja-go could work well as a Far East faction but they'll have to leave those crazy vehicles behind. :tongue: I would also welcome any suggestions for other eastern factions. Edit: Appologies, you said Ninja not Ninja-go. But yes, inclusion of the Orient Expedition would be great, as CallMePieOrDie suggests below.

SI-MOCs: Thank you very much. Yes I did draw this, started last night and finished it this afternoon.

Brinstar: Good shout! Perhaps they can go in the unclaimed eastern section of the map, unless you can think of a reason for them to go elsewhere.

Wardancer: LOL @ the Switzerland comparison. I orginally had the alignments as you and Lordofdragonss have suggested, in a way it makes sense, but after consulting the following links I think I will stick with what I put. http://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/SRD:Skeleton http://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/Orc. If anything, orcs could possibly be considered Chaotic Neutral if theres enough sympathy for them.

The Ninjas could be united under the banner of the Orient Expedition far eastern faction. And I don't think he meant Ninjago. That'd be just plain weird. :blush:

Good one! And what lies to the East of the map? Along the King's Road from the Crown lands.. Maybe it leads to another section with the Knight's of the Kingdom of Morcia(ooh jellybean candy colours) and the evil Lord Vladek.. :classic:

Greetins & such!

First of all, the map is fantastic! I am absolutely thrilled by all of this lore development going on here! Secondly, a question. Where do the Tomb Kings / Mummies / Scarab Kingdom fall under? I happen to be in a process of putting together a Mummy based Brikwars army and would really like for it to get on the map somehow. It's not exactly an undead / skeleton faction, as they have their own distinct troops, shield and so forth. Are ey a part of the Scorpion Kingdom faction? If so, it's absolutely fine with me but I still want to confirm it. If it were up to me, I would put them either on a large Southern island or in the deep South-Eastern region of the map. :laugh:

Edit: Additionally, where does the "Prince of Persia" faction fit in? Ideally, I'd love for them to border and be allied with the Mummy kingdom.

Cool creation; I wonder what it will lead to...

I have two isuues though:

- I would put the Bulls next to the old lion knights, as they were their official adversaries

- I think the Dragon Masters work better as a forest faction, as intended by the color of their baseplates. They just seem too European to me to be a mideastern/desert faction. Wild, dragon-infested woods suit them better.

Awaiting the placement of other faction, like Black Knights (some coastal region, as they have the only fleet worth mentioning), Persians from Alamut, possibly the Chinese and east Indians from Orient Expedition, who seem to be stuck with pre-industrial technology, maybe even some lost island of Spartans/Greeks with Atlantis architecture :laugh:, etc

And by the way, who gets the island in the middle of the map?
