JopieK Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 If you take a look at the 7777 book, you notice a shell station and a kind of refinery idea. Note: original images at back cover and page 48 / 49. Well I rebuilt it, first in LDD and hopefully from now on IRL. With two cars and an end buffer. I have used the sort of ying and yang idea from the logo in the sidings of the large tanks (so the red and green rises a bit). Of course since we have a sticker business, the real life model will be also fitted with the proper stickers of the Octan logo's. Enjoy. I also hope to remake a 7760 as a shunter loc for the refinery. Quote
roamingstop Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 Very nice. I would also be happy to see these parked there. Quote
JopieK Posted November 6, 2011 Author Posted November 6, 2011 These are very nice indeed! Very nice moc. Do they have original stickers? I don't recognize the "Energy". I think I will however prefer a bit smaller tankers, the only reason is that I want them to match our general era more precisely (around or just after ww2). Quote
jonwil Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 The stickers and tank parts in those photos come from the 3180 Tank Truck. Quote
roamingstop Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 (edited) The stickers and tank parts in those photos come from the 3180 Tank Truck. Correct. Sometimes a good looking MOC does not need massive SNOT techniques, just the right idea. I do like the refinery - and was also working on a similar one; but time is not on my side. So I let you run with the idea... (actually I have most of the chrome elements for pipes). Link to original models Edited November 6, 2011 by roamingstudio Quote
JopieK Posted November 6, 2011 Author Posted November 6, 2011 I just wanted to redo a 7777 set that I can fit in with my LEGO city that I usually take with me to events and just add some modern components to the old 7777 idea. That refinery looks very nice indeed. B.t.w. in holland (and most of europe) there used to be "city gas" for lighting street lanterns. That was before they discovered gas fields. They made gas from coal. That is why such a structures are quite accurate. Quote

In real life it's a dirty enviroment and dark (bluish) grey might be better. I'm taking about the first bricklayer on the silos (and the small ones in front) and the baseplates). More tubes and pipes might also be in place. And a small shed/hut for the workers Brick on! I'd luv to se the final result Quote
