brickmack Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 (edited) A small outpost, in a rocky area near high mountains, along the border of the Crown Knight kingdom. No interior in this because of the large supports required to keep it all together, and because of lack of parts. This is also my first Castle MOC. Crown Knights outpost by brickmack, on Flickr Comments appreciated. Edited November 4, 2011 by brickmack Quote
Si-MOCs Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 A few thoughts: 1) MORE LIGHTS! 2) Your crown guy fell over on 2nd picture 3) great rock work 4) I love the little roofs 5) great use of technic bricks on the ramparts Awesome stuff! really like what you did there, I just wish it was brighter and easier to see. If you have a few more grey bricks, you should try to cover up those little green spots - or if you want a bit off grass, add a few green plates or plants to make it obvious. Quote
2maxwell Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 I really like this because it seems exactly like a border outpost should be: simple, utilitarian, and just a little bit bleak. And the rock work is great, of course. Quote
lorax Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 I love the rock walls, I also love the roof, it is really cute. As said above, I love the use of the technic brick, they work well in the build. Quote
lightningtiger Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 Great work 'brickmack', nice stonewalls plus those technic axle bricks and that knight that is taking a kip....I little too much wine the night before would be my guess ! Brick On Defend On 'brickmack' ! Quote
de Gothia Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 Really well done! The roof is very well done! Quote
brickmack Posted November 3, 2011 Author Posted November 3, 2011 Thanks for the comments so far everyone. I know, didn't notice until I uploaded it. I need to get something to stick my minifigs down, since they don't stay up well on fully tiled surfaces. As for the brightness, I know that's a bit of a problem, I need to get my monitor calibrated again so I can fix that better. Quote
de Gothia Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 Jumper plates is great for setting up minifigs on tiled areas! Quote
Gabe Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 (edited) This is really nice for a first attempt at a castle. I agree that the rock work is great and i also like the texture on the sloped part of the roof - i just wish it could have been brought to more of a peak, but i can understand if a lack of parts prevents that. The technic holes on the parapets is a nice bit of ornamentation, but the parapet itself looks a bit low - it could be a couple of plates higher. Nice work though, very pleasing to look at! dwarf-brik Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 Ha, I totally know what it is like to have a lack of pieces! Still, you did a really good job with what you have; I love it! Quote
Darkdragon Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 I really like this simple outpost. The roof looks great, rocks look great. The use of different shades of gray (intended or just because you had to) looks wonderful. It would be nice to have some brighter images, but the lighting seems even so you may be able to adjust the exposure of each image using Photoshop.com or Picnik (on Flickr). Quote
WhiteFang Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 I like it, even though the lightning might be a little dim but it kinds of illustrate the grim facade in this MOC. To me, the roof is one of the nicest highlights. Thanks for sharing. Quote

I actually had enough parts that if I wanted to I could have made an interior, but most of them are currently being used up by a SHIP I'm working on in Sci-Fi. I'd have to take that apart first to get plates and bricks. Quote
Vindicare Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 This is great for a first castle MOC, brickmack. The rock work is reallygood and I like how it and the building integrate well. Although, I see this as more of an ocean look out. The rocks look like a cliff face one would see out at the beach. Quote

Also for the people complaining about the brightness, I edited the first one so far to brighten it, working on the other ones. Quote
Voodoo Hand Posted November 4, 2011 Posted November 4, 2011 One of your knights is sleeping on the job it seems Anyways, nice moc! Nice usage of those TECHNIC 1x2 bricks for battlements! I think ill be using that as well in one of my projects! Can you open it so you can get inside it with your hands? I don't see any pictures showing that and so far i can see, no visible ways to do so. Quote
brickmack Posted November 4, 2011 Author Posted November 4, 2011 No, there's no interior. I made the black roof section somewhat easy to remove if I need to get in to fix the supports or something (even that isn't very easy to take off), but the rest is closed. Quote
Voodoo Hand Posted November 4, 2011 Posted November 4, 2011 Thats a shame, would look great in anyones collection for sure. Quote
TenorPenny Posted November 4, 2011 Posted November 4, 2011 It's a lovely little fortress, very sturdy looking. Quote
50missioncap Posted November 11, 2011 Posted November 11, 2011 OMG... saw this on your "signature" on another thread... this is AWESOME!!! Very well done man. Very well done. Quote
LEGO Train 12 Volts Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 Great work with that rocks and stones! The black roof is totally cool! Quote
