ER0L Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 (edited) My second MOC: an old-fashioned American pumper - no special type. The firefighting theme has quite caught me, it seems. My aim was to fit in 4 minifigs, so the roof is movable - it uses parts of the vehicle from set 7208. In fact the driver can't leave his seat without taking off the steering wheel, but the cabin is at its maximum length, so he is the one to look after the coffee machine . The movable roof uses parts of set 7208. Main inspirations come from Steven Asbury, Lego Fire Museum, Orion Pax (the stowaway seems to be a quotation), ImLost and many other great builders. The shape of the mirrors and the handles on top of the windows are copied from builders I don't remember, I'm afraid. The photos are linked with Flickr, I somehow don't manage to get them bigger here, sorry. [Edit: Thank you for putting in the larger photos, 3001/58] I am looking forward to your feedback! bootz Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 (edited) Very nice engine you've made there. I may have to try an 8 wide soon. That front end looks great BTW. I love the headlights and grille. Edited October 31, 2011 by bootz Quote
Mrcool1804 Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 (edited) First off great looking rig. Great job on the headlights, very cool. I think you nailed the length but it seems that the roof and back could use just one more layer to add just a bit more to the height. Great rig and I'm glad to see more fire trucks being built Edited October 31, 2011 by Mrcool1804 Quote
lightningtiger Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 AWESOME looking 8 wide pumper 'ER0L' , the scaling is perfect...clever SNOT with those cupboards ! Planning a ladder truck or rescue squad to join them ? Brick On 'ER0L' ! Quote
legomaniac83 Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 WOW great MOC! Love the detail to fit 4 firemen in the front and nice use of the storage containers on their side. Might have to try one of these! Great work. Quote

I love the headlights and grille. Thank you very much for your kind comment, bootz. I think it is easier to build 8 wide than 6 wide. You get a much wider range of possibilities with that. My first MOC was a 10w monster. First off great looking rig. Great job on the headlights, very cool. I think you nailed the length but it seems that the roof and back could use just one more layer to add just a bit more to the height. Great rig and I'm glad to see more fire trucks being built Thank you very much, Mrcool1804. The headlights were an experiment - I am glad you like them this way. Concerning the height I see your point - during the building process this vehicle had every height you can imagine It seemed to me that in general the older rigs are lower than the newer ones, but I will consider this and maybe give it another try. AWESOME looking 8 wide pumper 'ER0L' , the scaling is perfect...clever SNOT with those cupboards ! Planning a ladder truck or rescue squad to join them ? Brick On 'ER0L' ! Thank you, lightningtiger, I appreciate your comment very much. Well, a ladder seems rather complicated to me. But indeed I am planning another fire apparatus - hopefully with a different color scheme WOW great MOC! Love the detail to fit 4 firemen in the front and nice use of the storage containers on their side. Might have to try one of these! Great work. Thank you very much, legomaniac83. I was surprised to see that TLG seems to put only one minifig even in their larger trucks - at least the ones I saw so far. Edited October 31, 2011 by ER0L Quote
kotaco Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 Awesome job, looks great, love the lights. Not sure if you knew this or not but the rear firefighters sit facing backwards in most trucks, in the US at least. If you did know this the nvm me. Nice work though Quote

kotaco Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 Thank you for your kind comment, kotaco. I didn't know this, thank you for the hint. Fortunately the seats can easily be turned around. No problem, I'm a firefighter in real life so if you need any specific tips I'd be happy to help with what I know :) Quote
