On his Flickr photoset, BricksOnWheels posted these 6 pictures of his Lego Optimus Prime 1:16-scale model. :cry_happy: He wrote,

"I have been asked by countless people when I was going to build 'Optimus Prime', the star from the Transformers movies. After watching the third episode with my kids I decided to go for it. It is PF driven, but it can't transform :-) ... well it probably will in time in about 3000 bricks... hope you like it!"

"Optimus Prime happens to be a Peterbilt in real life, so that suited me :-) The flames were tough. I made them in Coreldraw! myself with the CMYK values of the Lego colors. They're definitely not an exact match, but I am pleased with the result anyway."

"There is a lot of chrome on the real Optimus Prime, so that was a chance I had to take, being a chrome freak :-) A lot of retro-chromed Lego bricks have gone in here. The tower at the back on the chassis. I have not seen much on trucks before, but the original has it, so it is on this one too."

"The IR sensor is in the roof of the bunker":

"Two Power Functions motors -- one for the rear axles, and one for the steering system. It has a detailed engine too.... and a lot of blue lights :-) "

Sweet ride! I think it looks fantastic and I am loving the chrome as it is not something that usually features prominently in Lego.

Thnx all, those are some big compliments

This was a nice one to build. In the Dutch Lego community there are some very big Transformer freaks and i have been asked often to give Optimus Prime a go. Now basically there is the Prime from the series (a cabover) and the Prime of the movies, a longnose Peterbilt. I watched the movies with my kids and liked the 379 Peterbilt best.

The actual truck is darker blue, and i also found out that the stacks should be a bit lower. With some minor updates this is as close as i can get now, i asume.

Normally i dont keep my moc's that long, but this one will be a nice one to bring along to shows.

The truck in Dluders header (thanks for posting  ) is not actual the Optimus Prime from the movies, but a very nice replica. It comes very close but the sleeper is a different type. Here is the actual truck:

Smokestacks lowered, added split window and updated rear fenders.

@ Bricksonwheels: Your "Autobot" model will be feared by the "Decepticons"! The truck's proportions are very close to the original's:
