Legostein Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 Hello everybody! Today I'd like to present an alternative Darth Vader minifigure to you which you might know from the Star Wars universe. It does not use any Star Wars licensed pieces and is made up from official non-modified bricks and minifigure pieces only. You might ask: "Why should one make such a figure? There is an official Vader figure already, and it's more detailed anyway." Well, you're right. But sometimes I wonder what Star Wars fans would have come up with if LEGO® never had a Star Wars™ licence. And that's my motivation to make alternative Star Wars minifigures. That's all for now. Thank you for your interest. Cheers, ~ Christopher Quote
Rocketbilly Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 Great work, as usual! At first I couldn't quite see the likeness, but after a few seconds of examing the pieces it all came together and I have to say certainly does look the part. I also wonder how the Lego community would create Star Wars characters if there was no Star Wars theme from Lego - I also fondly remember building X-Wings out of my UFO sets when I was little before the license came out. Nice work! Quote
Ceroknight Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 Very cool! How is it connected to the torso? Quote
charlieboy Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 (edited) How is it connected to the torso? I'd say with a black one of these- Great fig though, you just cant beat those old Blacktron torsos! Edited October 27, 2011 by charlieboy Quote
Hewman Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 I love the reasoning behind making this and the execution of the idea is great too. I think this might start a whole run of people making custom star wars figs in this way. Quote
Legostein Posted October 27, 2011 Author Posted October 27, 2011 Thank you everybody for the kind comments. It's great to see there's a potential for these unconventional approaches. How is it connected to the torso? I'd say with a black one of these- Yes, correct. This is one of the most versatile pieces ever. Cheers, ~ Christopher Quote
Mr Man Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 Fantastic Legostein . I love the idea of creating your own licensed figs. Do you have a stormtrooper ? Quote
Legostein Posted October 29, 2011 Author Posted October 29, 2011 Do you have a stormtrooper ? Well, not yet. It would be quite a challenge though. Cheers, ~ Christopher Quote
1980-Something-Space-Guy Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 (edited) In an alternate universe where Lego still doesn't make any licensed figs, this is the closest things fans have got to a Darth Vader minifig. Interesting idea, and it's very nicely done. Thanks for sharing! Edited October 29, 2011 by johnnyvgoode Quote
Praiter Yed Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 A world without Lego Star Wars would be a world where I would be a wealthier man. Great alternative Vader Legostien, I think you've probably found the only really effective way to do it Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 As always you've shown your knack for very clever parts usage and the end product highly resembles the shape of Vader's helmet. A job well done as usual Chris! Oh, and better late than never: Quote

Fallenangel Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 I was expecting something akin to this, but this is also very nice. Clever choice of parts, as usual. Quote
wokajablocka Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 Not bad for a brick built Darth. Hay Legostein did you check out this thread? Fallenangle was asking 'A couple years back, I came across a site on which someone had depicted the entire Original Trilogy in LEGO form via a number of brickbuilt scenes for each film'. you can check out the thread and look at the link My link. It has alot of very nicely built figs made back in 1992, way befor we saw any official Star Wars Lego. Quote
