J4ke Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 Spa - SKY! Yeah, after my sojourn into the murky depths of medieval architecture, I felt the need to revisit something with wings. Since my last skyfighter was kinda tiny and not particularly great, I did another. This one ended up rather larger. It's got foldy landing gear, two belt-fed machine guns, two torpedos, and massive holes in the wings and tail. But that's intentional, since I wanted to try something with negative space. Does it work? I think so, but you tell me! More pics, including the promised landing gear, here! Quote
Nightshroud99 Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 I quite like this. The curvature of it's wings, the unique parts you used to make it. Very nice. It also looks good from all profiles, which isn't easy to accomplish. Quote
-zenn Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 Nice use of that canopy, overall nice looking build. Quote
lightningtiger Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 A different design from you 'J4ke', a Sky Captain inspired design....'Peppermint_M' will be impressed ! My favourite part's are the weapons....belt fed machine guns ! Interesting - a tail rotor - very different and highly imaginative - Brick On and Fight On 'J4ke' ! Quote
Si-MOCs Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 WOw you've been buzy! The rear of the wings and the whole is awesome. Great colour blocking! Quote
Laura Beinbrech Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 Love your diesel-punk fighter plane.... It looks just like something from that nifty alt-timeline flight sim game "Crimson Skies", or as Lightning Tiger said, "Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow." Quote
Peppermint_M Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 I like the overall design there. Well done However I am more a fan of closed canopy or a windscreen, but what you used looks good as it is. Also I find the wings a little too thick, again that is a personal choice you made. We all have an aesthetic we are fans of and use. A good buil overall. Might I also point out that Rufus has taken Sky-Fi into Special, something to do with the high similarity to "modern" military aircraft. I'll see how he proceeds. Quote
Darth Nihilus Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 Nice job J4KE! All of the MOCs I have seen here in Sci-Fi are amazing, and this one is no exception. The machine guns are very well built, and the wings are just perfect for this design. Quote
brickmack Posted October 28, 2011 Posted October 28, 2011 Looks nice. Completely unflyable, but nice. The curves, especially on the front two wings, look nice. Quote
Rook Posted October 28, 2011 Posted October 28, 2011 Liking the gap in the wings. I penciled out a gapped wing star fighter two weeks ago to build this spring probably. Glad to see others already inspired with similar ideas. Quote
tchuk-norst Posted October 28, 2011 Posted October 28, 2011 I love the look of this. The holes in the wings work well for the design. Good job! Quote
Legostein Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 Hello! Although I rather doubt the holes in the wings will contribute to smooth aerodynamics, it simply looks great! The colour scheme is also nicley to look at. Cheers, ~ Christopher Quote
Rufus Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 Might I also point out that Rufus has taken Sky-Fi into Special, something to do with the high similarity to "modern" military aircraft. I'll see how he proceeds. Builder's choice. I'm happy to move if that's what J4ke wants. Sky-Fi rules (arbitrarily made up by me ) are that any atmospheric craft that uses conventional means to generate lift (ie. wings, piston/ jet engines or rotors) is eligible for Sky-Fi in Special, so this would certainly count.
