Hrw-Amen Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 Sorry if this has been asked but I cannot locate it. I don't have any Lego stores near me, however I am going to be heading up to London in a few weeks and will be on the M3. My question is, can you go into the Lego shop at Legoland Windsor without paying for tickets to enter the park, or is it actually inside the park gates? I would love to have a look and make a purchase from a PAB wall, but have never seen such a thing except in photos. As I am passing by I thought I'd pop in but am not big on the whole theme park thing. Thanks. Quote
Ralph_S Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 (edited) The miniland section of the theme park is definitely worthwhile, but you can definitely get into the shop without entering the park itself. In fact, I'm pretty sure that this time of year the park itself is actually closed, but the shop will still be open to get some of the Christmas sales. It's still a fair drive from the M3 to the park BTW. You have to go all through Windsor Town. Cheers, Ralph Edited October 20, 2011 by Ralph_S Quote
Pandora Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 I'm pretty sure you can't actually get into the shop without paying to get into the park, as the shop is inside the park (all the shops are). I can't be sure though, as I haven't actually ever tried. (I've always gone into the park anyway.) This page has the opening hours; it seems the park is only open until the end of the month. This is their FAQ page, which doesn't tell you about their shops, but it does have a contact telephone number at the bottom of the page, so you could call them and ask. If you find out, let everyone know! Quote
TheKingOfBuilding Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 When I went to Legoland Windsor, the shop was inside the park gates. However, if you plan to visit around 20 minutes near the closing time of the park, because all of the rides shut-down at that time and the ticket vendors close, the staff just let anyone come in. Also, Legoland parks have a PAB wall which mainly has bricks and other simple pieces while a Lego Store (e.g Bluewater, Milton Keynes...) normally has more specialized pieces, from my experiance. ronmcrae Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 I don't know about the Windsor store, but I know that Legoland California will allow you to go directly to the LEGO store if you ask for a shoppers pass. You have to give over something significant at the front gate customer service (e.g. drivers license) and they'll hold it until you return. All in all you're good for about an hour, but if you have the store clerk at the store call the front gate to verify that you really are shopping they'll extend the time. I spent about three hours there digging through the PAB. It'd be worth calling Windsor and asking if they do something similar. Quote
HighFlyer Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 If you can, head over to the LEGO store in Westfield's, Shepherd's Bush. Quote
Roger Rabbit Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 I'm pretty sure that the park will be closing down for the winter over the next couple of weeks, and that the Big Shop will continue to remain open. If I were you I would contact the park directly. You will have to travel through Windsor, but it's a very nice place, so that shouldn't be too much of an ordeal. Quote
L@go Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 If you can, head over to the LEGO store in Westfield's, Shepherd's Bush. Agreed. I was there in June and will be going back next month. The staff were very friendly and offered impeccable service, and the shop was well stocked. Quote

Westfield staff are GREAT! there was a young man (slightly darker skin) who has impeccable customer service! and Westfield shop has quite a fantastic range of stuff to get. Back to topic: No, u need to pay to go into the shop at Legoland Windsor cos the shop is inside the paid compound. my advice is just pay and go in. walk around, do the rides, then do the shops. there are also smaller themed shops scattered around the site at the themed areas. However, when the park is open you can get a shopper's pass, as in LEGOLand California, which allows you in for an hour (or at least there used to be). When the park is closed, as it will be in November, the shopping area near the entrance and the big shop are open. They close gates between the shops and the actual park, but open the main entrance. At least, that was the case two years ago, when I went there for a bit of Christmas shopping. Cheers, Ralph Edited October 21, 2011 by Ralph_S Quote
Hrw-Amen Posted October 21, 2011 Author Posted October 21, 2011 I'm actually going up to London to get to Gatwick so not actually in to the city area, but will be around M25. I thought that on my way back home I may take a detour, but I will check my times. Sounds like phoning them may be the best option. Thanks. Quote
gotoAndLego Posted October 22, 2011 Posted October 22, 2011 What did they say when you called them? Quote
Hrw-Amen Posted October 23, 2011 Author Posted October 23, 2011 (edited) Well I tried them yesterday and again this morning and got 'The number you have dialed has not been recognised.' The number I dialed was 0871 2222 001 which I got off the website. I know I dialed it correctly as it came up in the display window. I have e-mailed them to ask so hopefully they will get back to me. Just got a reply. The shop will be open November 11th- 13th, 18th- 20th, 25th-27 and Dec 2nd- 4th between 10am and 4pm on those days. I think that closing time will be too early for me by the time I am back around that area. What a pity. Anyone know of any TLG stores or other retail outlet with a PAB wall in Jakarta Indonesia? I have tried google but did not get anything. Last time I was there I was told about an exhibition taking place with lots of stuff going on at Debenhams in Senyan City, but when I arrived it was over. Any help would be appreciated. I was at Legoland earlier this week and as a bonus during these Christmas Shopping days if you spend over £120 you get a FREE annual pass into the park! Mr Benn Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 Sorry to resuscitate a slightly older thread, I hope it's sill relevant... I did this last year - you have to pay to get into the park, but because your ticket is timestamped I think you get about half an hour - if you then return to the customer service booth (which is pretty much right next to the shop in the courtyard area) then they'll give you a full refund. Have never been that impressed by the Merlin-owned Lego stores - they don't have the full variety of exclusives - though the PaB wall sometimes has some different stuff in. The experience I've had in the Lego stores has always been much better! Quote
