harmacy Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 Hi all - first time poster here in the Technics / mindstorm category. Im normally a town / SW kinda guy, but have been having a few ideas about motorising my creations, and wanted to ask for some advice. It all started with seeing this post here on EB LINKY, and I thought that this idea would translate quite well for slower 4 wide cars travelling around a city scene circuit. But, the big idea I have, is that I want the cars going around my circuit to stop every now and then - For two reasons. firstly - a bit of realism, and secondly, to give the motors a bit of a break - especially if this set up is going to be running at a show. My questions is, what Mindstorms parts do I need to accomplish this? - sensors etc, or can the RCX / NXT bricks be timed to start and stop motors at predetermined intervals? Do I even need mindstorms to start stop motors at timed intervals? Id rather not spend big money on a NXT2 system, but would be happy to get an older RCX system that does the trick. Especially since they are pretty cheap on BL. Any help would be appreciated:) Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 I think you will need to get a mindstorms of some sort and then set a time you want it to run for,i think you will need a mindstorms block any way if your cars are going round corners. Quote
JopieK Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 it might be wiser to use a small microcontroller for that, NXT is too large and relatively not powerful enough Quote
