JINZONINGEN73 Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 Back in 2004, a site was found that had a bunch of airbrushed photos showing future products... all ripoffs of existing Lego sets (and not just Bionicle). http://www.blocko.com.cn/chanpin/zhongjizh...ngjizhanshi.asp It's taken 2 years, but a seller on eBay has 7 of these sets in hand. http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQfgtpZ1QQfrppZ25QQsassZmyegulf As you can probably surmise, the plastic quality looks cheap, cheap, CHEAP. But still, the sculpting job on "Sea Star" blows away Lego's original design. There's a bunch of Metru Nui ripoffs that were available on their original listings which have yet to be seen: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=154688 The seller has wacky set numbers and names listed for some of the items, so going by the original website, I created this, as they should be the correct ones: Being a Transformers fan, I've come to appreciate knock offs sometimes as much as original products. :-P
Deinonychus Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 Wow...knockoff Vahki! *wub* I'd love to get a whole bunch of these things, sadly they'll probably sell for more then the real-deal LEGO sets when all is said and done...unusual and interesting KOs always seem to do that. Perhaps I'll get lucky and these things will trickle into Big Lots, Dollar Stores, flea markets, and Easter basket sets over the next couple years
natelite Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 it's interesting how their fantasy sets have orcs and skeletons minifigs :-D
JINZONINGEN73 Posted September 6, 2006 Author Posted September 6, 2006 Yah, you can't deny that they're bootlegs of Lego, but it also can't be denied they really worked on making it as similar yet decently unique as possible. And hell... they actually made the chick's armor a different sex, something SORELY lacking from the 2001 Toa, Toa Nuva, Toa Metru, Toa Inika, Matoran, etc etc... The armor OWNS too. More serious looking.
Lord Thrawn Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 Did you get these Jinzo? I wonder 'cause you seemed pretty interested (and with good reason).
JINZONINGEN73 Posted September 12, 2006 Author Posted September 12, 2006 TRIED to. Got a American Express Gift Card for birthday, only to find out hardly ANYBODY takes it. And I needed it to get a Paypal account. I dunno... I probably won't be able to for awhile... lots of "fun" things going on in real life right now. V__V
Kikuichimonji Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 You don't need a credit card to open a Paypal account. You can also transfer money from your bank account to your Paypal account. That's what I do :-)
