AkumaMax Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 Hey guys whats up I have been a long time collector of Legos up until 1999 Unfortunately a flood wiped away most of my Lego sets. I am now 27 and trying to Buy/Build stuff to get my Pirate Collection back in swing. All I have left of my old ships is the rear half of the bow to my Renegade Runner. I started trying to piece together what I have left of my Legos. Slowly but surely I am piecing them together with the help of Brickfactory:) So far I have recovered 90% of a 6245 set(just missing the Flag/Mini-fig) Also was able to piece together a 1713 but think it should actually be a 6234. It sucks because I had about 60% of all the Pirate stuff and now I think I have about 2% oh well things happen. Anyway just want to say whats up and I am looking forward to starting an Armada soon. Got a question for you guys though. I am having a dilemma I want to get one of the new ships but am torn between the Imperial Flagship and Queen Ann's Revenge! If you had a choice witch would you go for? Thanks and hope to see you all soon. BTW I am not a very good artist however I am trying myself out on that Lego Designer to build a ship. It's a little annoying but I'm sure using it more and more I will learn it quickly. Quote
Sebeus I Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 (edited) The imperial flagship is the best choice if you want most parts for your money, the Queen Anne's Revenge has some nice details and cool minifigures but is less extended than the imperial flagship. In your case I would go for the Imperial Flagship because you say you want "one of the new ships" and are not looking for any particular feature. The imperial flagship offers more possibilities to build new different ships. Edited October 7, 2011 by Sebeus Iniwum Quote
Frank Brick Wright Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 The only LEGO ship I bought is Imperial Flagship and it is a great ship to start! You get a great number of parts, most of them useful, many minifigs (9), 4 cannons and you learn a lot of the shipbuilding process just by following the instructions. I could assemble 3 quite different ships almost only with the parts of the Imperial Flagship: a caravel, a carrack and a brig. Now I am going to buy (at Christmas) parts to make an LDD project (Batavia WIP), but I think that to start the I.F. is just great! Good luck with your projects Quote
AkumaMax Posted October 7, 2011 Author Posted October 7, 2011 Thanks guys I was leaning more toward the Flagship just for the sure massiveness. Since I have only owned the Renegade Runner in the past this ship is by far bigger. I have been out of the game for a while now but I see a lot of things have changed. Colors of weapons, Mini-fig's now have facial expressions(IDK about the rest of you but it's kinda weird to see that, Could be i'm still attached to the old plain face min-fig's where you had to imagine them saying stuff). I am super mad I didn't pickup a Black Seas Barracuda & Caribbean Clipper for $150 last week. It would have been an awesome deal but then the guys friend had to go and tell him they were worth more than $350. Quote
legomonk Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 i was out of the swing of collecting a long time so I can completely understand your situation I started again a couple years ago now i have 5 large ships a bunch of smaller ones just takes time to build them up and try Bricklink.com its a good resource for getting part and older sets Quote
Horry Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 I would certainly agree with Sebeus and suggest that you take the Imperial Flagship. It has some wonderful pieces and a great design. By the way: As a non-native speaker I find it difficult to read your comments as they seem to be missing all sorts of punctuation and capitalization. Any chance that you could update the post, legomonk? Quote
AkumaMax Posted October 7, 2011 Author Posted October 7, 2011 I thank you for the link to Bricklink that place is awesome. Unfortunatly I couldn't find any piece to try and put back toeghter my Renegade Runner but oh well. Quote
Big Cam Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 Although this is heavily Pirate related, New member intro threads have their own forum, I'll move it there. Quote

I wasn't sure where to post up. Now I have fully looked and see that this Forum isn't just dedicated to Pirates. Quote
Hiawatha Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 The IFS is a lot bigger and looks more historic. The QAR is more unrealistic. If you are looking for a better build, the IFS is the way to go! Quote
AkumaMax Posted October 10, 2011 Author Posted October 10, 2011 The IFS is a lot bigger and looks more historic. The QAR is more unrealistic. If you are looking for a better build, the IFS is the way to go! I agree it looks like a better build too. However I am going to end up buying both QAR and BP then after that the IFS. Then onto the older ships. Quote
Commodore Hornbricker Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 Welcome. I'd say the IFS hands down. In my opinion it's the best Lego ship ever produced for the line. After that I'd go for the BSB. Good luck and enjoy! Quote
