LDD, run on a tablet PC

I have try this on March when I brought it. Quite smooth.

Acer Iconia Tab W500

AMD Fusion C-50 (1.GHz) dual core

AMD Radeon HD 6250M 384 MB DDR3

RAM 2 GB DDR3

SSD 32 GB

Windows 7 Home Premiun 32 bit

I'm trying LDD on an acer w500, but it seems there are many difficulties to rotate the scene.

Did you update video drivers before using LDD?

Touch and hold (for right click) then drag to rotate the scene.

I re-installed fresh Windows 7 Home Premiun 32 bit SP1(not by recovery DVD), and use lastest drivers from acer website.

Maybe the preload windows and apps consume too many system resource.

(Check CPU Usage in Task Manager. if it always very high while you run LDD then every thing become slow.)

Or try to set Maximize Perfoemance in ATI Catalyst Control Center > PowerPlay.

I'm trying Win8 preview on the device (it is much faster and reactive than win7, but a bit immature still), and at the moment I installed only the drivers that the system don't recognize its own.

I'll try to update video drivers using the release taken from acer site than.

LDD runs on Windows 8 not as good as on Windows 7.

I've Win8 consumer preview installed on the w500 now and it seems it works as good as with win7.

Surely the touch experience is really improved (touchscreen drivers for win7 are not so good, while those embedded in win8 are much better), perhaps something is changed in LDD use?

Maybe I didn't explain well.

The Acer w500 got on March 2011, first old version.

Installed Win8 consumer preview 32 bit on 2nd partition(dual boot) + AMD Win8 driver.

LDD problem in Win8

1 Can not enable AA AF.

2 Run slower with big model compare to Win7.(I didn't measure FPS, but easy notice-able when turn the camera)

3 Can not turn/flip bricks by touch function (flicks) as in the video clip.(or I don't know how to)

4 Can not quick focus/center bricks. (two fingers right click)

It seems you have some isue with AMD drivers.

Note that drivers for win8 should be for hd7xxx only. I used win7 drivers and works fine.

1. I haven't tried. Perhaps I'll do that later.
   
2. I didn't notice that... perhaps I should try with bigger models.
   
3. I didn't noticed it was possible even with win7
   Perhaps it is only necessary to set some function on the control panel.
   EDIT: it seems that in win8 CP touch functionalities are very poor, "double tap" for double click and "press and hold" for right click, without the chance to add other gestures, for now, at least.
   
4. I use "press and hold" and it works fine

I use APU driver for win8 P 32bit instead of GPU driver. Maybe win7 GPU driver can work with item 1 and 2.

I just found that there is a GPU driver for 6xxxM (w500=6250M) win8 on AMD web. Should we try that one? Not sure what different with APU one.

Edit: Found that both lead to same download. Maybe driver for win8 (and win8 itself) still bug and not optimize yet.

It works with win8 DP, but I can't make it work with the Consumer Preview.

So do I. Automatic screen rotation didn't work with win8 CP.
