Hi guys, all the time during my LEGO life, I've had issues with bricks cracking/breaking. Is there some way to prevent this? If so, how? And also, what can I do with the broken/cracked pieces?

Thanks.

Not sure if there's a way to prevent bricks from cracking other than to keep them in safe spots and avoid extreme temperature changes I guess.

There's plenty of uses for broken bricks if you're making MOCS, for example, I have tons of green pieces that have broken off those grass / bush pieces and I use them as grass shavings.

Sorry if I was unclear, I meant preventing as how we should connect the pieces (in a specific way).

Didn't anybody tell you that you shouldn't stand on them?

How would standing on plates, tiles, and 1 x 1 slopes crack them? (Those are the pieces that usually crack for me)

I find it's usually cheese slopes or curved parts cracking. I've also got a lot of minifig torsos that cracked down the sides.

I find that the 1x1 plate modified with clip

Used to break all the time for me, especially after stuffing the wrong sized parts in it...

This is why I almost never use non-LEGO approved connections, or at least ones that I've found proof doesn't stress the bricks in any way. It all seems to break something.
