MyHobby Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 Here we come upon Captain Jack Sparrow who has, once again, lost the Pearl. But what's that behind him? Now, what ship has Semi-Black sails, is crewed by the darned and is captained by a man so grumpy, that heck itself kicked him out for bad behavior!? None other than... The Blood Prow! The creepiest ghostship to sail the waters since the last one! Here we see the Red Prow for which the vessel is named! It is said to be painted by the blood of slain enemies! And a hefty dose of Red Dye #4. Here we see the weather-worn sails and cracked rigging! Upkeep is not a big priority to the un-dieing. Here we see how it is constructed. Held together by duct tape and willpower, that one! (They must have pilfered the old ninja sets to collect such rags!) No self-respecting pirate sails without a decent skull resting upon the aft! Lifted whole-sale from the Ninjago Skeleton bike because it's just that cool. Aye, and it fit, also. No prefabrickated hull is used in this ship's construction, nay. Scratch materials were utilized in the creation of this magnificent ship! And while it may suffer for it, It doesn't look too shabby, savvy? Here be the Helm, with the imfamous Cap'n Neckbeard steerin' the vessel. His first mate, Knuckal, has learned that a sextant is slightly useless when the ship is constantly surrounded by ominous fog. Here we see that this aft-castle had battlements! Harr-de-harr-harr. What a topsy-turvy ship these ghastly seamen crew! A cargo-hold where the captain's cabin aught tah be! One lonely treasure chest lies within, but there be room for many more! And a parting shot of the Blood Prow in all it's ghastly ghostly glory! So, the story is that I wanted a pirate ship, but lacked any of the staples that the sets lend to such ships. Hulls, sails and the like. So I challenged myself to create a pirate ship using what materials I had on hand. The result is what you see before you. I drew inspiration from many sources, P of the C's Flying Dutchman lends the teeth on the Bow, obviously, but I also drew inspiration from LEGO's own ghostly ship from the fantasy kingdom series. The Grumpy Captain Neckbeard is based on first-hand accounts of Blackbeard's appearence, from the dark beard and ominous personae, to the wide-brimmed hat with the large plume. Each crew-menber is different, and only two carry a weapon that's exactly the same. So, leave your thoughts, and give me some slack with the picture quality. Shiver my timbers, shiver my soul. Yo-ho heave ho! Quote
Hiawatha Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 (edited) Poor Jack! I wouldn't want to paddle into that ship in the fog anytime soon. Thanks for adding the comic! Your ship is very well made and I am glad that you put a lot of effort into your minifigures, especially making the blackbeard as historical accurate as possible instead of using the POTC one already made. Bjornu Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 I dont know what you did with the pictures, but it gave me a Classic feel. The old commercials and booklets with the text: Lego maniac and the "Lego Maniac Not Included" These pictures look like they are blurred or something. I like how you did Blackbeard instead of using the TLC one Greetz Bjornu Quote
Sebeus I Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 Nice, the skeleton that painted the prow is funny Quote
