snefroe Posted September 3, 2006 Posted September 3, 2006 a great ship indeed! i'm not so keen about the microscale, though Quote
Kikuichimonji Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 I saw this a while ago. Pretty cool, but I'm not sure if the use of discoloured grey bricks was intended or not. And yes, the construction shots are pretty amazing to look at! Quote
snefroe Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 I saw this a while ago. Pretty cool, but I'm not sure if the use of discoloured grey bricks was intended or not. well i think in this case, it works on the cylinder, but not on the section before that, because of the gray quarter cymlindrical parts. it's kinda difficult to explain why the normal hull pieces are serieusly 'weathered' while the roof looks like brand new... honestly, i'm getting kinda bored with these types of mocs. we've seen quite a few of those and they don't really seem to add anything new anymore, it's just another shape, that's it. in fact, in this case i would have built more of these cylinders to form a space station instead of a space ship... natelite Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 i share snefroe1's thoughts as well. it gets kinda boring after a while. there is never really a definition of good or bad since space/futuristic theme is basically freehold. you can just about come up with any design or any shape and it will still look cool. xenologer Posted September 7, 2006 Posted September 7, 2006 I agree as far as I'm concerned these ships lately are nothing more than an illustration of how lucky they were at PAB or Bricklink. Given enough hinges and tiles anyone can make a big snotty ship, its just a matter of free time... there are exceptions of course, I think if a model is more than just big expensive curved shapes, but actually an attempt to make a detailed replica of something real or from a tv show then there's merit to it...(UCE) personally, I think my microscale ships are going to be pocket sized only, fun for tabletop wargames anything bigger I'll probably limit to minifig scale with some playability, no statues.... OK, i am going to post a link to my current microscale capital ship. It guess the main recognisable bits would be its a mis mash of star destroyer & nebulon B frigate It is conceptual, as I am practicing microscale capital ships at the moment It is made from my collection & no bricklinking it so much snot as studs all over I hope I have deeplinked this enough OK, quality isn't great, but its my ideas rather than some HQ photo shoot Jof Quote
xenologer Posted September 10, 2006 Posted September 10, 2006 OK, i am going to post a link to my current microscale capital ship. Nice Yes this is much better. Has character, looks like something you could actually play with. Sturdy, built strong rather than for the sake of hiding studs. Does the 'head' open up? those side panels look like they might be a hangar bay door.... Quote

Not really, it is fixed using technic pins, rather than hinges, so if it 'opened' it would be a maximum gap of 2 bricks high on this model. (I used all my hinges on other capital ship that I have already posted about on here) I thought I would stick the pictures on, as I am feeling the urge to deconstruct them ready for another version.
