Aanchir Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 I see a lions head. I see a bundle of grapes, but yeah, your explanation makes more sense. Unless, of course, it's just decorative and not symbolic of his allegiance in any way at all. Quote

The ambiguous nature of the design does allow for more 'play value' though, since one can imagine it to be representative of a few different things. Very cool, IMO. Quote
TheLegoDr Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 I originally assumed it was a lion head, but after looking at more closely, I can easily picture the fleur de lis with grapes pattern. Plus you add in the color he is wearing and you associate him with the Lion kingdom. I find it hard to see a dragon head in that patter, but I guess that is why so many people can see different shapes in clouds/Rorschach tests. I do agree it can add some play value though if you believe it to resemble something else. But I would also prefer for his noble robes to be a different color than the main kingdom if he isn't associated with them. Quote
UsernameMDM Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 It irks me that TLG changed the lion logo on the new nobleman while the other two king torsos have the same lion head medallion. Quote
Vindicare Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 (edited) It irks me that TLG changed the lion logo on the new nobleman while the other two king torsos have the same lion head medallion. Perhaps he's not with the Lion Knights? But a visiting noble. Edit: just checked the prince/noble from the advent, the medallion and torso are quite different. What 2 king torsos are you refering to? The one in the carriage set doesn't have a medallion. I don't remember the torso on the king in the castle set... Edited October 15, 2011 by Legocrazy81 Quote

DaleDVM Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 I agree that they could have replaced the soldiers and made squires for the set. I also agree about another civilian instead of the merchant/noble guy. However, the set would have been too good then; what would we have to discuss... Looks like grapes to me or perhaps an artichoke. Quote

I think they should've swapped a squire fir the mysterious Black Falcon for that Lion soldier, but chances are that whoever buys this will have MMV and can use the kid from there. Still, I would've rather had a squire, who doesn't have soldiers? Quote

They could have added a squire on the side however :) Quote
Artifex Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 I cried. Best Lego set in a long time. Well, with all the good sets out there, I guess this is another great set in not that long a time I love it. I really do. Quote
jamzee Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 (edited) The Joust set does look epic - attached is only a quick pic edit but gives some idea how good it looks with King's Castle..! Edited October 27, 2011 by jamzee Quote
legomonk Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 (edited) This set might match up well with the wall pieces of 7947 Kings Castle set... wow i should read others posts before spouting off. I really like the archer positions on the actual wall looks improvised but sturdy and well constructed Edited October 27, 2011 by legomonk Quote
SSJ2 Dark Posted October 28, 2011 Posted October 28, 2011 I went to the LEGO store in MPLS last weekend, and I asked the cashier about the release date for this set. He didn't even know about it. Quote

Flea Posted October 30, 2011 Posted October 30, 2011 do you think this could end to new falcon sets? I mean, look at MMV and now Mill Village... I really hope LOTR won't kill kingdoms or any classic castle sets :( Quote
TheBoyWonder Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 I personally disagree with the move to licensed sets. It will mean lots of fleshy figures, which unless you use as Mopags from Quest 4, have no use in kingdoms. Lord of The Rings is not my particular taste. But it will mean good sets and more Elves. However, these would be fleshy Elves. You wouldn't see TLG abandoning City/Town for Licensed themes would you? The three bedrock themes- Castle, Town and Space. Town looks set to stay, Castle going on a hiatus and no news on Space. Furthermore, as someone has said, space had a hiatus then came back with a bang. After 4 years. I feel that if LoTR is a success, I worry LoTR will go like Star Wars. I worry Castle would be a long time. Quote
lightningtiger Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 Simply castle and space based sets are release mid-year, sorry off-topic. Quote

I don't think fleshies are the worst thing in the world. It gives a bit more diversity, and we can finally have mini-figures that are African. Which really mostly effects those people who work in Pirates / colonial themes most often. They look different, but I have no problems putting them into my armies. I guess it would look strange if you only had a few minifigs, but when you have thousands, it kind of seems like a good idea. Castle has not had this infiltration yet, so perhaps those who work primarily within that genre are still hesitant, but I think everyone else but townies are used to the slow surge of flesh colored figs. I think we see it as a tradeoff between getting cool sets with new pieces but having to deal with odd figs, otherwise it is not like we would see new sets in our themes as often. Back to this set... Looks beautiful, but I wish the back wall closed so that it could be used in a castle setting instead of just a display. Quote
