Blacktron Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 Hi! Okay, Phase II for my Neo Blacktron line. It's the Assault Raider. A crawling tank with a 3-men-crew. Let me know what you think about it. And forming an attack group, together with the Neo Blacktron Alienator: Quote
TenorPenny Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 You mix new elements and old school Blacktron very well. The three-man crew is just right, and I like the one weapon just off the chin! Quote
-zenn Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 (edited) I like the flow of the main body, what piece is that big antenna btw? Though I think the legs needs more work. Edited September 30, 2011 by -zenn Quote
Big Cam Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 I like the 4 legged walker, it just screams blacktron, but for me the two legged walker is just too Star Wars like. It's still a good design, I just can't get past the similarity. Quote
Blacktron Posted September 30, 2011 Author Posted September 30, 2011 (edited) Oh sorry, that Antenna is one of my few non Lego parts. It's from megablocks or something like that. I think I will replace it, because I'd like to use only original parts. I think the legs are okay, but not perfect. Maybe I can improve them a little, after my new bricklink order has arrived. Thanks for your feedback, guys. I like the 4 legged walker, it just screams blacktron, but for me the two legged walker is just too Star Wars like. It's still a good design, I just can't get past the similarity. yup, you're right. The alienator looks like the classic one gone Star Wars. But I think thats a good combination. I got another one coming, which looks even more Star Wars. It looks like an AT-RT in black. Edited September 30, 2011 by Blacktron Quote
1980-Something-Space-Guy Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 Nice to see another of your Neo Blacktron creations! Thanks for sharing with us. I like this new Assault Rider. But please, replace that Megablocks piece ASAP! I like the color scheme on this one, although here's a few suggestions you might like to consider: -Adding a bit of green to the legs -Making the legs look sturdier -Giving the figs in the two front sets a trans cockpit. (Something like this perhaps?) I hope you'll keep sharing these cool Blacktron revival creations with us! Blacktron lives! Quote
Legostein Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 Hello! A great addition to the Blacktron III theme. It's a unique layout with many moving sections. May I suggest to add a bit more dark gray pieces here and there? This looked so good on your first creation and sharpens the shape of the otherwise only black construction. On another note, I would recommend a grey-shaded background instead of the glaring red background. Cheers, ~ Christopher Quote
Minifig Lecturer Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 Gotta love this Blacktron creation! Would have been a super set ) Quote
Si-MOCs Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 Very nice, digging the neo blacktron. Looks great - can't wait to see more! Quote
RichardRobins Posted October 6, 2011 Posted October 6, 2011 (edited) Recently at work I had the chance to build some blacktron, and these models would fit perfectly for the "feel" of a Blacktron III Theme, infact if these were ever made by Lego I'd be tempted to buy both sets for my personal collection. Blacktron Posted October 11, 2011 Author Posted October 11, 2011 (edited) Thanks very much for the feedback, guys. Recently at work I had the chance to build some blacktron, and these models would fit perfectly for the "feel" of a Blacktron III Theme Well, thats the nicest possible feedback you could give me. Thanks very much. May I suggest to add a bit more dark gray pieces here and there? This looked so good on your first creation and sharpens the shape of the otherwise only black construction. Yes, I'd love to. I'm really a fan of dark bluish grey, but I don't have many bricks in that colour. I'm in the process of changing that already. On another note, I would recommend a grey-shaded background instead of the glaring red background. My pics might not be top professional, but I like them the way they are. The red is a good contrast to the black and neon green. I like the color scheme on this one, although here's a few suggestions you might like to consider: -Adding a bit of green to the legs -Making the legs look sturdier -Giving the figs in the two front sets a trans cockpit. (Something like this perhaps?) - Nope, I like them the way they are. - Yup, I already did. Maybe I can post some update pics soon. - Nope. I don't know. The drivers might not be perfectly protected in this cockpit, but I like it the way it is. I think those old fashioned neon green cockpit parts would destroy the look of the cockpit. I hope you'll keep sharing these cool Blacktron revival creations with us! Blacktron lives! I deffintivly will. Thanks very much for your suggestions and your feedback. fr33manator Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 Like the design and the color scheme. Here are a few suggestions: Consider making the cockpit a detachable ship with it's own weaponry Add a swiveled turret to the top of the tank to give it more versatility Definitely consider cockpit canopies, especially if you make the cockpit detachable Perhaps add some more trans neon green to the legs Quote
