lightningtiger Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 To start a fresh I need your help everyone, which looks better first or second picture ? Comments welcome and yes, tons more to come that's for sure ! Quote
Kryne Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 Definetly the first picture, as it has the lower roof line and matches up better, but then it also has a little bit to much blue, but must say it looks amazing Quote
AussieJimbo Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 I'd go with the second. Too much blue in a row with the first one. And a blanket well done for all the new buildings in your other threads. :classic: Quote
lightningtiger Posted September 30, 2011 Author Posted September 30, 2011 Thanks 'AJ' and 'Kryne' for your feedback, I'm still sitting on the fence on this - one to each photo, dam.....I think I need to build another building similar to the menswear store. Quote
slovakiasteph Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 I think the second as well... too much blue in the first, and I like the variety in the roofline. Quote
lightningtiger Posted September 30, 2011 Author Posted September 30, 2011 I think the second as well... too much blue in the first, and I like the variety in the roofline. Thanks 'slovakiasteph' for your comments, I was thinking along the same lines.....in fact I'm working on a cafe and then a chemist to form a row of shops on the hardware store side of the street. The other side will still have just the post office and supermarket, but the Ford dealer is going to get a mega revamp, but that's after I'm done with this side of the street. Quote
lightningtiger Posted September 30, 2011 Author Posted September 30, 2011 A different angle on the street.....more to come, man I'm going to be busy ! Quote
sharkone Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 Very nice street , also the first building was cool, you can put it a little farther than the other blue. Quote
lightningtiger Posted September 30, 2011 Author Posted September 30, 2011 Thank you 'sharkone' for your comments, hopefully tomorrow I might get a chance of photographing the street again with the other buildings on the other side of the street. The cafe is coming along nicely too ! Quote
Hiawatha Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 The second building brings more diversity than the other. The first blends in too much and is not as tall. Quote
lightningtiger Posted September 30, 2011 Author Posted September 30, 2011 Thanks 'Hiawatha' for your comments, and that's three to one......Lowes wins ! It stays, the tyre place gets moved, I was going to put a limit on the town's size but I have a cafe and chemist to build....a phone shop plus revamping the car dealership yet again (I'm sometimes never happy with the end result ) ! Ouch, I'm going to be very, very, very busy ! Quote
legobodgers Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 I also prefer the second one for the reasons that others have stated. I have travelled around Australia in a caravan and you have captured the spirit of a small Australian town perfectly. Quote
lightningtiger Posted October 2, 2011 Author Posted October 2, 2011 Thanks 'legobodgers' for your kind comments, I will be working on the IGA supermarket again on Tuesday and hopefully bring the walls up on the cafe. The chemist will also be this week too ! Quote
slovakiasteph Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 IGA-- that's something we have over here! Good thing I watch a lot of British TV or I'd be lost on half the things you're describing/terms you use. I'm really enjoying watching this all come together! Quote
SilentMode Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 They're both cool, but strangely I'm drawn to the second one. Quote
lightningtiger Posted October 2, 2011 Author Posted October 2, 2011 Thanks 'SilentMode' and 'slovakiasteph' for your comments, tomorrow the IGA gets a wall extension on the right side with more shelving - dam it most customise more groceries - time to get busy ! Keep watching.....oh, yeah....ideas for groceries please (already have a dairy case done and tinned foods - though I guess I could do tinned veg I suppose ) ? Quote
SilentMode Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 Groceries... perhaps boxes of cereal, toilet/kitchen paper, biscuits. Quote
lightningtiger Posted October 2, 2011 Author Posted October 2, 2011 Groceries... perhaps boxes of cereal, toilet/kitchen paper, biscuits. Ah, toilet paper....1x1 round bricks wraped in clear tape with a logo on it ! Thanks I might just do it - we shall see tomorrow ! (any more suggestions feel free ) Quote
lightningtiger Posted October 3, 2011 Author Posted October 3, 2011 24 hours is long enough for a fresh post instead of a simple edit. To give some idea of the effect of different building heights, here we have a street in Broken Hill. Work starts on a revamp of the IGA and will be photographed in position today too.....updating later today. Quote
lightningtiger Posted October 4, 2011 Author Posted October 4, 2011 Main street is coming togther (I forgot the extra street light, dam it ). Keep watching more to come ! Quote
Kryne Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 Thats some fantastic work, makes me want to rush out and buy lots of bricks to start building some shops for my city. Quote
lightningtiger Posted October 4, 2011 Author Posted October 4, 2011 Thats some fantastic work, makes me want to rush out and buy lots of bricks to start building some shops for my city. Thanks and get going then.....start building 'Kryne'.....I can't wait to see your city....Brick On. I couldn't do any more work today on main street, tomorrow......yes ! Quote
Mikeosaurus Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 Wow Lightningtiger, you have quite a talent for making realistic modern town structures. With the exception of their names any one of those buildings would look right at home in an American town. This is also an excellent example for those looking to build a city of their own. Good job! Thanks 'Mikeosaurus'for your comments, perhaps someone in the states would do a USA country town theme eh ? Anyway, an update..... Keep watching ! Quote
lightningtiger Posted October 6, 2011 Author Posted October 6, 2011 Another day another fresh post , now a question.....how many businesses should I have in main street ? Should I still have a tyre fitter, car dealer, chemist, doctor's clinic or something new like a real estate office ? I have decided that the huge industrial place will go at the top of main street on a T-junction with perhaps a railway line/station/platform across from the bank and post office intersection. Suggest On ! Quote
