Blacktron Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 (edited) Hi folks! Right now I'm in the process of building my own Neo Blacktron Series. First I'd like to show you my alienator version, which is an updated and modernized version of the classic Blacktron set, which is one of my alltime favorits. I loved the fact that he was one of the first walkers. I hope you like it. Please leave some feedback and critisicm. Next one of my Neo Blacktron soon, when I have pictures of it. Artanis I Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 Nice update, it keeps the general idea of the shape but looks a bit more solid and less blocky. I'm glad you've kept the windscreen and castle wall parts. It's a bit hard to see the detail of black on black though. I would suggest using some more greys here and there and greebly bits to spice it up even more! Quote
Blacktron Posted September 28, 2011 Author Posted September 28, 2011 Thanks for your feedback. What does "greeply" mean? Me and my dictonary don't know this word. I'm not very satisfied with those pics. I should try it again in bright daylight. This colour scheme may not be the easiest to make pics of, but trust me it looks real cool and evil in person, matching the Blacktron Space Villain from minifigs series 3. Quote
1980-Something-Space-Guy Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 Nice creation! Love the idea! Thanks for sharing. I also kind of get the feel that it is just too black. As has been suggested, light grey here and there could do the trick, although an interesting alternative is bright green here and there too (not necessarily trans-green). Let's keep Blacktron alive! It's a common term used on this site meaning little pieces to add cosmetic detail, making it look more realistic. You do have a bit of that going on - it doesn't show up that well in black, so I'm suggesting some more in alternate colours. Edited September 28, 2011 by Artanis I Quote
Blacktron Posted September 28, 2011 Author Posted September 28, 2011 Thanks very much, Artanis I. Now I understand. Quote
White Cat Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 Origin of greeble] and our greeblies. So yeah, it's not really just our glossary. Quote
-zenn Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 (edited) Nice one, love the antenna's on top! The Exoforce stickers are also a great addition. On behalf of the pic's I would suggest you use a none wrinkled background, a couple of a4 papers... Let them slop against a backwall, that way you won't get a line in the back. And also lighting from both sides, so there won't hardly be any shadows. Also a editing program; turn up the brightness a little bit and less contrast. It does wonders. I think there is a NBT revolt going on... Edited September 28, 2011 by -zenn Quote
Blacktron Posted September 28, 2011 Author Posted September 28, 2011 Just wait until you see my bigger sets. Thanks very much for your feedback, -zenn. And thanks for your advices about taking and correcting pics. I don't have a good equipment like a lightbox and better lamps. So it's hard for me to make so good pics, as most of you guys do. But I'll try to do better next time. Quote

Legostein Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 Hello! That's a really fantastic neo-Blacktron creation. I like the color scheme with the dark bluish gray. That makes it clearly different from Blacktron I and II but still similar enough to see the relation to the former series. It would really be great if we had a completely fan-made Blacktron III theme. Cheers, ~ Christopher Quote
Blacktron Posted September 28, 2011 Author Posted September 28, 2011 I'm on it, Christopher. So far I've made four vehicles for Neo Blacktron, but all four are Walkers or Crawlers. I'm a little bid tired of spaceships and wheeled vehicles and became a nerd for mechs of all kinds. I'm glad someone out there likes the paint scheme and the exoforce stickers. @-zenn: Thanks very much for these advices. Just yesterday I were searching for a thread about this matters here on the board and wasn't able to find one. So you helped me very much. I think I will build a lightbox, but 2 of the sets I'm building right now are to large to put them into a lightbox. I have to find another solution for these. Quote
fr33manator Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 If you are shying away from spaceships, maybe you could go with some kind of hovertank or a low flying dropship. I really like your neo-blacktron models so far. Keep up the good work! Quote
Blacktron Posted October 22, 2011 Author Posted October 22, 2011 Thanks very much for your feedback. I don't know. It seems I'm just fascinated by mechs and all kinds of walking machines right now. But I will think about your suggestions. Quote
