To all the SW fans out there,

What's your favorite SW vehicle/ship to date that is of the smaller/personal craft size? I'm looking for something on the "swooshable" scale (so no UCS Falcon, SSR, etc).

I really like the new Alien Conquest jet that comes with the Earth Defense HQ (7066) and also the VX-Falcon from Hyperspeed Pursuit (5973), so I'm trying to see what other nice one-personnel type of craft I can incorporate from Star Wars into a spacey-like theme.

Thanks for any feedback.... :)

From the OT, I'd have to say the X-Wing, but that's a bit larger and I don't know how "swooshable" for you.

Having built so many, I can personally vouch for the fact that any LEGO X-wing the size of 4502 or smaller is very much swooshable (provided the build is just as solid). But if X-wings are not your cup of tea...

From the Prequels, pretty much any of the speeders (X-34, Flash, swoop, etc) and fighter craft (Vulture, droid tri-fighter, Delta-7, Alpha-3, Eta-2, etc.) From the Original Trilogy, again speeders (X-34, V-35, T-16, Z001, T-16) and some fighters (TIE Advanced x1, RZ-1, TIE/In). There are also a myriad of small ships in the Expanded Universe, some of my favorites being the E-wing from Dark Empire, the V-wing airspeeder, and the Sith Fighter from KOTOR. And of course there's Jon Palmer's M-wing.

The M-wing is not a Star Wars ship, just a random ship that FBTB has a unhealthy obsession with. It has as much to to do with Star Wars as a rock in my front yard.

I agree with all the others though.

This could make for an interesting discussion.

Hm, your best bet is probably the V-Wing. It's nice, small, and swooshable. The Geonosian Fighter is very sleek and swooshable too, but it may be hard to incorporate in a non-SW theme. Also, Cad Bane's Speeder is very good and swooshable too, but it's not a space ship in that sense, so you might have to do some modifying.

My favorite ship from SW has to be the ARC-170, just because it is so swooshable. If you made it blue, though, it would fit wonderfully into the Alien Conquest theme because it has many similarities to the Jet-Copter. It also has three cockpits, which makes for an interesting shape from the top. The six wings also give it many play features (eg. opening and closing the wings from landing to attack positions.) But if you were looking for something from the OT, I would have to say the TIE/in. It just has a cool shape, and can be modified to make a great alien or human interceptor or scout fighter. The "double-dagger" design on the wings just looks so smooth, especially if you tile over the wings entirely.

I'd have to say the TIEs with bent wings (TIE x1, TIE/sa, TIE/sh/ TIE/in, etc.) are my favorite ships to swoosh. Anything with those wings on the side in that position makes a very satisfactory barrel roll experience, when you spin them. Likewise, my favorite PT ship to swoosh would be the ETA-2

I'm not sure how well the ARC-170 would swoosh. Those big wings and long cannon...

The craft is rather unruly, but I always thought that the built-in handle grip ( :hmpf: ) made it great for swooshing. Although I could be biased, as 7259 was my first Star Wars set and my first LEGO set in a while.

As far as what you can still get right now in stores, I would go with Plo Kloon's Jedi Starfighter. It's a reasonable price and size. It's swooshable and frankly looks very handsome in the blue and white color scheme.

As far as recommended out of everything to date I can't really say for certain. There are so many sets to compare. I think any of the Jedi Starfighters are good and can be incorporated into other space themes. I just feel the OT crafts are too iconic and harder to incorporate without it screaming Star Wars. The exception I would make is the A-wing.
