Brickdoctor Posted September 24, 2011 Author Posted September 24, 2011 De'kra clicks, "Villagers not like outsiders might. You think tavern seller villager? Seller might know raider secrets." "The owner of the Hapless Hoplite is not a citizen of Mopag."The Mopag Settlement was founded by the Mopags, who only offer citizenship to their fellow Mopags. They can be identified by their pale, fleshy skin. The Hapless Hoplite's presence is only tolerated in order to make the settlement seem like a more appealing destination to merchants who bring what the settlement cannot provide for itself."

Mopags are regarded by the inhabitants of Eubric, Bric'Lin, and Brobric as somewhat immature. The Mopags themselves prefer to stick to their own little communities. That's all I know about them."

"You'll see if you ever encounter one."Is there nothing you wish to do at the Hapless Hoplite?" <out of character>If anyone hasn't noticed, just as Eubric is named after Eurobrics, the other four cities, Bric'Lin, Brobric, R'Kilf, and Mopag, are named after Bricklink, TBB, flickr, and MOCpages, respectively. I tried to make the cities resemble the website, hence Bric'Lin is a trading post, Brobric is a more isolated place that only the best heroes can make it to, and Mopag... </out of character>
swils Posted September 25, 2011 Posted September 25, 2011 Come on, folks! We're at the only establishment that caters to non-Mopags in the entire town! Now, we had quite the journey ourselves, getting here, surely some of these patrons are of the adventuring sort, and have stories of their own to tell? Let's ask around! Maybe someone's tale will inadvertently give us a clue towards the raidings! Thormanil signals for the group to roam the tavern, and inquire of the various patrons' stories. For his own part, he walks up to the table where the large manbear, and Wolfgang member are seated, and immerses himself in the conversation, keeping a keen ear our for anything regarding the raidings or the insignia. (Thinking, to himself) If the conversation hasn't gone anywhere useful by the time the others are starting to return from their various inquiries around the tavern, I'll just flat out bring up the matter of the dagger and insignia, and see if I can't press for any information.

You go seat yourself down at the far-left table. Seeing you, the Wolfgang warrior excuses himself and departs the tavern, obviously not wanting anything to do with members of Heroica. The man-bear, known as a Pongcanis, stares at you quizzically as he reaches for his mug. He takes a big gulp of Mead. "If you have business with me, speak up. Otherwise, I have places to be."
swils Posted September 25, 2011 Posted September 25, 2011 I, uh.. Sorry 'bout scaring off your friend. Listen, I'll be straight with ya. I'm looking for information regarding the recent caravan raidings. We've got reason to believe the insignia on this dagger Thormanil shows the man-bear the dagger may be related somehow to the guilty party. We've been jumped by bandits, mauled by nasty little forest vermin, and almost had a run-in with a terrifying feral bear. Tell me you've got a lead that can help us bring this hellish journey to a close? Thormanil sits back and waits, satisfied with his melodramatic tale of misery and woe.
posades Posted September 25, 2011 Posted September 25, 2011 With Thormanil striking up a conversation with one of the patrons of the tavern, Xander walks over to the bartender and asks if any strange or nervous individuals have passed through recently; he motions in Thormanil's direction and mentions the dagger, hopefully sparking the memory of the drink server.

"What? Who?"The old soldier practically yells, "Oh, you. You gotta speak up, boy. How can I expect to hear you when you're whispering?" You relate the story at a higher volume into the bartender's ear. Thankfully, the tavern's other customers are noisy enough so that no one overhears you. Understanding that you don't want the whole tavern to hear, the former warrior replies at a lower volume into your ear. "Ah! The Lion Knights! I hear a lot about them from the merchants who come through. There're rumors that they've been hunting Shadeaux lately. Can't tell you much, though. Out here, everything I hear has already been heard and retold a million times - there's no telling what details have changed."

Thormanil heads towards the entrance, waiting to see if any of the party have found out anything of interest Sensing he would not get any more information from the bartender, Xander politely thanked the man and made his way back to the entrance where the other heroes had begun to gather. "No new details out of the bartender," Xander relayed to Thormanil. "He's heard about the Lion Knights and their altercations with the Shadeaux, but nothing out of the ordinary."
ADHO15 Posted September 25, 2011 Posted September 25, 2011 In search of more useful information, Ad-Hoh walks over to the ranger-looking man in the brown hat and exchanges pleasantries before questioning him about the recent caravan attacks and what he knows of the Lion Knights.
Tanma Posted September 25, 2011 Posted September 25, 2011 De'kra simply sits in an empty region, and listens. The Shade had spent some of his early days at the hall just listening to conversations, weeding out comments in a dense fog of talk. Would he catch any interesting discussions in the crowd of speakers?
Flare Posted September 25, 2011 Posted September 25, 2011 Benji notices an elf walking over to a table. Finally, someone normal to talk to. "Hey, I'm Benji. You're an elf, eh? Thats cool, man, I'm a half elf myself. Hey... heard any news about any strange happenings around here? Lion knights, perhaps?"

The Forestman looks up."Good evening. Have a seat. Want some chicken? "I've heard about the caravan attacks. I've heard the Shadeaux are out hunting the Lion Knights, who've disappeared. Some say the Hinckwells are hiding the Lion Knights. Don't know where, though." Benji notices an elf walking over to a table. Finally, someone normal to talk to. "Hey, I'm Benji. You're an elf, eh? Thats cool, man, I'm a half elf myself. Hey... heard any news about any strange happenings around here? Lion knights, perhaps?" The elf stares at you coldly."I am not just an elf. I am a Brobric Elf. We're the deadliest elves in the Free Islands. I would think someone claiming to be half-elf, such as yourself, would know that. "The Lion Knights are vermin with no honor. They come here to take what belongs to the inhabitants of Uland, and they try to do it by raiding the Shadeaux wagons. I doubt they needed the Hinckwells' help. I fully believe they've dragged the Hinckwells into this to turn the six houses against each other and start a war."

"Mr. Shawe, would it be possible for us to speak with some of the residents of the Mopag Settlement?"
Brickdoctor Posted September 25, 2011 Author Posted September 25, 2011 "Mr. Shawe, would it be possible for us to speak with some of the residents of the Mopag Settlement?" "You could try, but they are not welcoming to outsiders. And by this time, the Mopags have already all gone to bed. If you wish to even attempt to see them, you'll need to sleep out in the open for one Night."

"My good Brobric Elf, of course I knew that. I'm just trying to be friendly after all. Anyways, that is very interesting. That would be quite bad if there was a "civil war" in this small town, eh?"
Darkdragon Posted September 25, 2011 Posted September 25, 2011 "I am not sure how safe it would be to camp in the middle of town and wait for the Mopag to wake up and possibly attack us. If they aren't friendly to outsiders normally, I doubt they will be more friendly if they think we are trying to trick or spring a trap on them."
Tanma Posted September 25, 2011 Posted September 25, 2011 De'kra shrugged and clicked, "Races feel safe and their race, might. I...think I home seperate. Mountain dragon riders live in their village, and outsiders not allowed. Not sure it strict everywhere."

I'm just trying to be friendly after all. "Of course you did. "We may have a common enemy, but don't think that makes us friends. I'd stay out of Brobric Elf matters if I were you. The locals here aren't exactly fond of those from Heroica - I'm sure you don't need more enemies."
Brickdoctor Posted September 26, 2011 Author Posted September 26, 2011 I watch as the heroes question some of the customers. "Is there anything else you want to ask, or shall we move on?"
swils Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 It doesn't seem like there's been any sightings of the Lion Knights up here, but I'd still rather like to talk to a few of the villagers myself, since I doubt we'll be out this way again any time soon. They might not be very welcoming, but we *do* have with us a master of diplomacy, Sir Leo, he could at the very least talk our way out of trouble, and if we're lucky, butter up some of the villagers and get us a little more intel before we head out.

"Good thinking, Thormanil! Cinna makes an excellent point that we may be ambushed by some of the villagers, and I'd rather not kill off all the people that can lead us to the Lion Knights, but maybe Sir Leo's diplomacy would work." Doc, would JediAnakin's diplomacy skill work if we are attacked by the villagers?
