swils Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 Standing just a little bit taller, and stronger than ever, Thormanil waited until the rest of the group had turned their attention to the road ahead before letting out a heavy sigh of relief. He hadn't blown up, morphed into a rabbit, or gone dumb deaf and blind. His gamble had paid off this time. Though, perhaps it would be in his best interest to let someone else take the first sip, next time Onwards, to Mopag! I sure wish I'd been able to make some rope.. who knows what else we might encounter in this forest.. maybe a wild jungle cat! Why, with some rope, I could have wrangled it... As he walks, his mind drifts to a story he'd been told as a young one, of a brave barbarian who, along with his trusty feline companion, managed to defeat the evil skeleton king, because he.. had.. THE POWER!
ADHO15 Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 As we walk this day, I explain to De'kra that mages are born with the power to tap into elemental energies. We take training to learn to control our power and harness the elements, and also to respect them. Most of my family are mages though I am the first to be drawn to the Darkness power. "This is true. I was raised in a village surrounded by forest and swampland. From a young age I remember I always had a natural connection with plant life and this ability has been strengthened and controlled over time. I have had my emerald for as long as I can remember."
Tanma Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 De'kra nods at the Mage and clicks, "Power dangerous in untrained hands, even kind hands. I remember villagers back home, but it not best recall. Villagers born powerless, and just work. But might-time villagers gain great power, and become heroes. It dangerous, home-heroes have no skill with power...or training, because no one know who gain power later. Heroes have to teach selves, and gain help of older heroes. Usually heroes good, thanks to teaching three veer chews, but few heroes think power means right. I not remember more, I only have memory of last year. I not know Eubric tongue when I wake up, only home tongue. Memories come back slow, I recall hero-memory after I see you great power."
Brickdoctor Posted September 22, 2011 Author Posted September 22, 2011 Daylight is fading fast as we arrive at the site of the wrecked caravan. There's nothing left in the clearing, save for a few pieces of wood the Shadeaux cleanup crew left behind. "Here's where it was hidden. Not much left, now."
swils Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 Thormanil checks the ceiling  http://www.darthsanddroids.net/episodes/0120.html Looks like your people cleaned up pretty thoroughly, Isaac. Thormanil pokes around the area, kicking at the bushes and lifting the remains of the caravan, not expecting to find anything, but hoping nonetheless
Tanma Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 De'kra turned to the others and said, "Now good time for shovels? Also, Ranger might talk to creatures, creatures might have see raiders." The shade waited, to see what the other heroes would reply.
posades Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 Xander indeed saw nothing out of the ordinary at the site and so decided to search more extensively behind the thick brush and large tree roots nearby.

Also, Ranger might talk to creatures, creatures might have see raiders." The shade waited, to see what the other heroes would reply. You look around, but there are no animals nearby. Xander indeed saw nothing out of the ordinary at the site and so decided to search more extensively behind the thick brush and large tree roots nearby. There is nothing behind the plants, other than more plants.
swils Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 And what's behind the plants that are behind these plants? (More plants.) And behind *those* plants? (...) Okay, okay fine. So, are we setting up camp here for the night? Thormanil gathers up the wreckage of the caravan and tosses it in the center of the clearing, hoping one of the mages could snap their fingers and spark up a little campfire
Brickdoctor Posted September 23, 2011 Author Posted September 23, 2011 I notice the party seems to be done here, but it's now too dark to travel in the middle of the Mopag Forest, so Thormanil gathers some remaining pieces of wood and arranges them in a safe position to light a fire. Cinna and Ad-Hoh prepare to light a fire with magic, but there is really no need, because I pull a fire striker out of my robe and have a roaring fire going in no time. Almost as if the forest itself can't stand having wood burning in its midst, the fire burns out quickly. By the time the party is asleep, the clearing has once again been plunged into darkness. It's a particularly dark Night tonight. One can barely see beyond the trees right in front of him. But the darkness doesn't last long. The party is awakened by a rustling in the surrounding flora, then a glow casts its light on this area of the forest as the animals of the forest turn against the heroes. PREPARE FOR BATTLE! Enemies: Bioluminescent Mopag Spider Type: Vermin Level: 8 Health: 15/15 Special: Hallucinogenic Bite - Makes the target see things differently, causing the Confused effect; the target is disoriented for three turns, during which there is a 50% chance it will act against an ally instead of an opponent. Tamamono Posted September 23, 2011 Posted September 23, 2011 "Yikes, that's quite a few enemies!" Order of action: Leo Xander Thormanil Cinna Ad-Hoh Benji De'kra Tomas "I will attack Bioluminescent Mopag Spider from the back row. Remember everybody, one hero per enemy! We can't let any of them score free hits! Could either Ad-Hoh or Cinna attack the snake? Its constriction only affects physical attacks." OOC: I'm controlling Flare's character, right? If so, then he will attack Mopag Bird of Prey from the back row.
swils Posted September 23, 2011 Posted September 23, 2011 (edited) QM Note: That's right, eight enemies. And here I was hoping to get a good night's rest! I thought small furry forest creatures were supposed to be friendly! We should keep our mages away from the spider, the last thing we need is one of them to confusedly launch a blast of darkness our way. Same goes for Tomas, I think, with the added threat of the bioluminescent scorpion -- I don't want my healer falling asleep on the job! In terms of priority, I think that the spider, bird, and frogs need to go first. Those frogs especially. Can you imagine if they all manage to focus their efforts three times in a single round? Ouch! Actually, I'll try to take out one of the slimy pests myself, right off the bat! Thormanil prepares to attack Mopag Frog A from the front row Edited September 23, 2011 by swils
Brickdoctor Posted September 23, 2011 Author Posted September 23, 2011 OOC: I'm controlling Flare's character, right? If so, then he will attack Mopag Bird of Prey from the back row. QM Note:That's correct. You'll control his character for the rest of the Quest, and whenever he is able to participate, he can override your choice of actions if he wants to. (not that I'd want him to, but I'll allow it) I thought small furry forest creatures were supposed to be friendly! QM Note:I can make your next battle involve furry forest creatures, then.
swils Posted September 23, 2011 Posted September 23, 2011 Hearing a voice in the back of his head, Thormanil feels compelled to reply Next fight? How about just next encounter, hm? Maybe they can lead us to a secret grotto where magical berries grow that enhance our abilities, rather than trying to bite and claw and constrict and croak us to death? More than a few of his fellow party members turn their attention to Thormanil briefly, wondering who he is talking to, or even, why is he talking about magical berries at a time like this. Most pray that the Barbarian hasn't gone off his rocker on the eve of their most challenging fight so far

"With all due respect, cleric, maybe I should focus my attack on the bird of prey as I am one of the few able to and also because my magic has little effect on vermin. So unless told otherwise, I shall attack Mopag Bird of Prey from the back row."
Tanma Posted September 23, 2011 Posted September 23, 2011 De'kra deciders to attack the black Mopag Scorpion from the front row. That should leave the Mopag frog C, the Bioluminecent Mopag scorpion, and the snake unsttacked.

Tanma Posted September 23, 2011 Posted September 23, 2011 De'kra readied for battle and clicked, "Only glow scorpion not attacked. Last hero need to fight it." The shade didn't really flinch too much at having to fight these foes, the creatures would slay them if they didn't fight back. Of course, the Ranger could have tried to ask them to stop, but since they failed to dose De'kra assumed that the foes would not have listened.

I thought the constriction affected all physical attacks, but it actually just affects close-range attacks." "Sounds good, cap'n. As I always say, a good plan is better than... um... a bad plan. Yeah. Never mind. Just let me kill that snake already!" Benji attacks the Red Mopag Snake from the Back Row.
TheBoyWonder Posted September 23, 2011 Posted September 23, 2011 I attack Scorpion from the back row. Good luck guys.
