Hiawatha Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 (edited) I was inspired to build this after seeing it last year in person. This building was menat to honor the glory of the French Empire. It was started in 1806 after Austerlitz and was completed in 1836. This is my first post and I hope you enjoy! The front of the building. Top. Notice the bust. The Departure of the Volunteers in 1792. The use of gray minifigs was based off of another version I have seen online. As you can tell it isn't finished (Some statues have no heads). The one next to it is half way there and the other two haven't been started yet. Inside the Arc. In the middle there is an Imperial Eagle I noticed when I went there. The names of the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Battles and Officers are on the walls. I reconigzed some like Ney, Murat etc. Construction. Although it was started in 1806,it wasn't done till thirty years later. I made this scene of Napoleon inspecting the building, it may not have been that completed when he was alive, but I wanted to give a picture of the Emperor watching the building. Men working on the engravings. I used a checker-like design for the pictures. They are working on the Battle of Aboukir. Napoleon and architect Jean Charlgrin. Here is the folder: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=484053 Thanks for reading! I hope I set this up right, if not please tell me, thanks! Bjornu Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 Nice MOC, But could you resize your pictures? It took me about 3 minutes to load and resize these pictures, they are actually bigger than my screen is. Anyways, cool moc ! Greetz Bjornu Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted September 18, 2011 Eurobricks Emperor Posted September 18, 2011 Please resize the pics since we don't allow pics that are bigger that 800x600px. Need help? Check the tutorials in my signature! Quote
Admiral Croissant Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 Looks impressive! But this is still a WIP? Then what else (except for heads) are you going to add? The statues and all the techniques look fine and it's also nice that Napoleon himself is present. Good luck on the finishing touches! Quote
Big Cam Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 I removed the deep links because those images are way to big. I left one so people can at least see your MOC, but even if not for the rules, please reduce the size of those pictures for those with a slower internet connection, because it is a well built model of the Arc De Triomphe.
