Hello everybody!

This is one of those rare moments where I break out of my minimised world where I usually hide in. :classic:

The contest made me curious and I wondered if I could contribute something. So I went to the toy store and got two copies of City Set 8402: Sports Car / Car Breakdown (reference link). After buying some additional small Atlantis sets I was able to "translate" the road layout into an underwater scene. You will discover some familar elements of the original set and some slightly modified elements to fullfill the underwater role. It's only a small set but I hope it meets your expectations. :classic:

That's my entry. :classic: It's the first building contest for me, and I admit it was much fun building this little scene! :sweet:

Have a great week-end,

Nice variation, the only thing that seems the same is the phone. The car makes the transition to sub well, it looks like the Propellers are maneuverable for rising or sinking in the water. The kelp is a great replacement for the tree, a good substitution but still unique enough to be it's own. Good luck in the contest.

A few comments:

  • If this is your entry it should be posted in the entry thread.
  • I think you misunderstood the point of the contest. The latest comment in the contest discussion thread clearly states that your entry should be a sunken version of your chosen set, not an adaption to an underwater vehicle.
  • Most of the set seems to have remained the same aside from the windshield and the wheels. I would try to modify it a bit more to make it look like a underwater scene, such as putting the phone on the ground and putting moss on top of the machine.

That said, I do like what you have done here. The base you have created for it looks nice, and the vehicle, while not fulfilling the contest requirements, looks like a cool James Bond-esque underwater car. I just think you can take it a bit further.

Good luck!

I don't think that was meant to be taken literally, Oky, but I might be wrong. I like it. Don't think that phone's gonna help, though, bit of a long drive for tow-trucks.

Hello everybody,

and thank you for the comments.

From my side, I see no rules conflict. The task was to build an underwater version of an existing set. That's what I did. And here is why:

Mankind is very adaptive to its environment, so I did not see the need to build a depressing representation of a destroyed world, but rather from a time when people had arranged with their new surroundings. Furthermore I thought that transforming this set into its underwater counterpart was much more challenging and than just giving the set a mouldy look. I am sorry that I could not force creativity into narrower regulations, and I am not sure if we should at all. :classic:

If the forum administration sees the need to disqualify this entry, I will gladly accept this. In this case please adjust the title by removing "contest entry".

Thank you,

Christopher

Well, seeing as so far there have only been two entries and this is an underwater version in the strictest of interpretations...

I am confused. Are you saying this is a valid entry? If so, shouldn't this be moved into the entry thread?

Legostein will post his pictures in the entry thread once he is happy with the MOC, this is merely a thread for commenting on the MOC.

After all, you make effort on building, you do want a little feedback. The entry thread is for entries only and discussion is prohibited. Some entrants may wish to post a seperate thread for their MOC after the contest, others want to during the contest. Either way, I will post a reminder here prior to the end of the contest for Legostein to post his finalised entry pictures in the aforementioned thread, assuming he does not do so of himself.

Oh, okay. I wasn't sure about that since some contests don't allow for individual entry threads to be created prior to the end of the contest. So does this mean we're allowed to convert a set into an underwater vehicle rather than make a sunken version of it after all?

Really, this should all be in the contest discussion, but if you can build a good quality underwater conversion of a set then go ahead. This means a little more than sticking flippers to the Police Motorcycle (as a warning to others) but you have to be able to tell what it used to be.
