XT4 is meant to look like be a piece of junk.

And you know that...how? We know nothing about the character's backstory as of yet.

It also seems to be the sort of set that needs the correct pose and didn't get it during the fair.

I'd say the pose he was in at the NYC Toy Fair was pretty good, and he's still terrible, in my opinion.

I actually like XT4, dunno why he's getting a bad rep when the horribly generic Core Hunter is getting the love, but ah well.

Core Hunter and XT4 are like Ackar and Kiina from BIONICLE. Ackar and Core Hunter are quite generic (more so in Ackar's case), but look very good overall. Kiina and XT4 have innovative designs, but look pretty bad on the whole. This is just my analogy.

Yeah, but Ackar was red. Ladies love the red.

Core Hunter, on the other hand, is the most boring of all colors: Black.

But yeah, I actually like XT4's pose in this toyfair (not so much anywhere else), so I have high hopes for him.

Nex - ...My only major complaint is hardly major at all, considering how easily fixable it is; his lack of a hand joint holding his gun. I believe this marks the first HF set which has not had at least one hand joint.

Ahem...

Let's not forget poor Bulky...

Lol. I still love the classic black and red colour scheme to this day, despite how countlessly it has been used. I think it complements Core Hunter himself extremely well; it brings out the highlights of the design brilliantly, and if you're a hunter, you've got to be dark (here's to hoping he'll actually be a real bounty hunter).

I feel ignorant now. :sadnew: Some reason I thought he was FL sized (Overlooked the images, I suppose).

Hah, don't be. I remember thinking Malum was a titan for the longest time back in BIONICLE's days.

As a huge fan of this year Heroes' chest decorations, I'm very happy with what they came up with the summer quartet and the colours they chose. They avoided the cheap option of using repaints of the winter designs (I was seriously fearing they'd do that), instead each Hero ends up having their very own gorgeous pattern.

Nex's design, on whom we weren't sure about, turns out to be very "techy" looking (similar to Evo's, yet different) which is very in-character I think (the "outgoing technology expert" is Nex, right?). And Bulk's looks shiny- I hope it is gold, dark tan just wouldn't look as cool.

The sets look the same as before, so I'm not going to add much compared to my previous posts. Just two things, actually:

1)I really want an high res pic of Core Hunter's helmet.

2)Nex has an harpoon on his right shoulder.

It's as if a cute little jumping spider walked into a pool of energized protodermis and came out horribly mutated (and with a massive humanoid body, but those are details).

It's going to give me nightmares.

In other words, CAN'T WAIT TO GET HIM.

I've just noticed on Core Hunter he has YET another new piece...on his gun.

The flexy bit is even shorter now.

EDIT- Just noticed on Stormer XL...he has stickers instead of printing...

Eh, that is probably a prototype. I can't see why they should a new mold for something so unimportant (not to mention aesethically inferior compared to the piece we know).

Thank you Dorek, and thank you BZP. Your Toyfair pics are gorgeous as usual!

I noticed two of Voltix's 4 lightning pieces are attached to his back, instead of acting as horns like the other 2 do. I don't know if it's an error or they supposed to be like that. Either way, I like the idea- they're like some small wings made of electricity- kinda cute.

Lol, thank BZP, not me. BS01/HS01 has yet to put up their pics (another factor, I think, in BZP making the rush to get their pics up... so you're welcome?)

But yeah, all of them use the old style launcher, but with axle holes instead of pin holes. It could be a compromise between the Breakout launcher bits and their predecessors, or could just be prototypic.

Stormer with stickers, eh? I could get in on that. Would be easier than printing, I suppose, given how the parts are a lot smoother...

XT4 is by no means a perfect set. But it is a small set. And as such there is not really a lot of competition. Toxic Reapa wins against him by a long shot (but that's merely because Toxic Reapa is made of 50% awesome and 50% win) Otherwise, we get a shark-shaped thing that doesn't make any sense, yet another insect guy but with sand green randomly tossed in him and three heroes that were completely ruined by thoughtless color schemes. Meanwhile, XT4 is original and looks like the mess he is and is a great parts pack, and to be honest it seems that the main problem with the last picture I saw of him was perspective. In the BZPower article he is looking great (except for the lips).

Actually, BZP already posted their full article. That's why I commented about Voltix's cute little wings.

Personally, I hope they are printed. We already have the 2.0 Hero torso and the 5M shell in white anyway, and not all of his plane-like armour pieces seem to be decorated. Remember, also, that the LOTR minifigs' heads aren't printed but have hastily applied stickers over them.

Thank god for a no-nonsense shot of Core Hunter's face. Finally, once you can see the details it looks great. I think this set is great if we consider only the top half of his body. Legs and feet are quite normal, but then again I've been noticing that the same tends to happen to my MoCs... If the Makutas looked like this in 2008, Bionicle would have lasted 5 more years.

That style of launcher piece is a prototype version of the "new" Thornax launcher that never appeared in sets. It also appears on LDD, with the same Design ID as the actual new launcher piece that appeared in the 2012 sets.

We can pretty much be assured the "prototype version" won't show up in any of these sets since at ToyFair this piece was present on all heroes, including those already released.

In other news, just built Surge who I bought at the LEGO store. My oh my, he is a fine-looking set.

You know what? I am glad they copied Hulk's build for Stormer. He does not look like Hulk. He looks like a very original titan build that is nothing like Bionicle and nothing like FL clones. He actually looks like a large humanoid hero, and I don't think the Bionicle or HF titan builds would ever be able to accomplish that. This build is literally one mold away of being great. They just need to change the standard 2.0 armor "shin guards" with something else that does not look that strange.

The price, however ...

Agreed. The blue+lime colour scheme looks much better in person.

And that is medium azure, not sand green. :cry_sad:

BTW, that video is pretty hilarious. Yeah, I wish Nex had at least one hand. One more thing I need to add to the last Hero Recon Team set I'll buy.

I'm a bit disappointed with the large sets prices, too (provided they do end up being 24.99 Euro and 34.99 Euro). I love them, but the piece count is too low to justify them (Rocka and Scorpio were already on the fence, but it's worse this time).

Whatever the name, the color was out of place.

Scorpio was actually great value for the price. Just bought my second one because of the large quantity of bones and black and silver shells...

I assume you don't have Thornraxx, do you? The azure pieces don't look out of place at all, trust me. He would look kind of bland with only black+orange. But whatever, it's your opinion. I love Thonraxx a lot and I'm always ready to defend him, but I admit that a silly part of me simply was really anxious to use that Tsukishima reaction pic somewhere.

I'm thinking of getting Scorpio- he looks kind of cool, and he has so many nice pieces. Most reviews I read weren't nice about the model itself, however..

You have to think of Scorpio as one of those "Bricks and More" buckets that come with a lot of parts and instructions for a model that you can use to test if the parts connect correctly. But I am getting off-topic.

I see, thanks. I'm hoping to find him for sale somewhere.

Back on the sets, Stringer's shoulder pieces and helmet really look like they're titanium metallic. Also, I just noticed Nex's lines in his chest pattern match the ones on his helmet- excellent touch, I'm liking him more and more-

Oh wait. Nex DOES have an hand on his Zamor gun arm. But it's black. :look:

...What the heck?

You're right. I had assumed that was a traditional normal socket joint.

...

I don't get it. Why is it black? They didn't do that for Evo, why woul they do it for Nex?

Awwww yeah, Nex has a hand after all <3

Okay, Nex is going to be my first Summer Breakout set. Followed by Stringer, Core Hunter, Voltix and Bulk.

...

Wait.

Dang nabbit I haven't finished my 3.0 collection yet D:

Considering skipping the 3.0 line and go straight for the Breakout saga...
