Hero Factory 2012

Rocka's left forearm is incredibly stumpy, I just noticed, consisting of only one of these and a basic joint for a hand. I think that the length of his blaster / crossbow weapon will balance it out, but that's difficult to judge from these pictures. Both Furno and Breez seem to have more traditional arms.

I'm curious to see if the Hero Cores end up being separate pieces from the armor they are attached to. Their small size makes me think that they won't, but their coloration makes me a little doubtful.

Also, I'm totally in favor of non-traditional builds such as those used in Thornraxx and Jawblade, but how are they going to stand? I guess Thornraxx could do a sort of tripod thing, and Jawblade possibly could use the Furno 3.0 wings / Raw Jaw tusks to stand.

Anyway, these sets have definitely grown on me since the initial reaction, hopefully they will continue to do so up to their release date.

Splitface shares the same torso as the heroes, and he has a double-peg port thing right on his chest, so we can confirm that the core is a separate piece. Also that we can put the 2.0 chest armor on the new torso

Oh and protip: move Breez's shoulder armor to the hips.

They'll probably overhaul the system for "4.0" (we're really gonna have to stop calling it that...), introduce the new body styles, then add in anything that still fits proportion. If the heads are indeed in the new style, it'd be cool to keep all of the previous head options.

Recon is pretty successful, so I doubt it's going anywhere.

Furno and Breez are my favorite new heroes, and splitface is pretty nice as villain.

I think my favorite villain might be Jawblade or Thornraxx.. The bulk of Hero Factory uses a humanoid format, with one head, two arms, and two legs. Some had variations, like Waspix with more arms a stringer and wings, but it was still very human like. The other beasts of the summer line also strayed, but they were creatures and intended to be used as generics, like the Bohrok of yesteryear. The one creature that was really different was Scorpio, but I have yet to hear positivity about that set. Really the basic design has gotten old, at least in my opinion. But 2012 starts with two unique villains, both with less than four limbs. Thornraxx interests me because of its nostalgic shape, is it just me, or is this an updated Nui-Rama? Jawblade on the other hand has a great shark like design, although it has to hold its front fins in it's hands.

Also, the new torso piece is the same one used for "Ultrabuild" Joker and Iron Man from the Super Heroes theme. In Joker you can see its attachment points, whereas on Iron Man it's used to attach a separate chest armor piece. That's not total confirmation of whether the 2.0 chest could work on this new armor, though, since the 2.0 chest can be kind of fiddly about what it will or won't attach firmly to.

From what I can tell, I think it'll fit. However I think it'll sit a little too high up on the chest to look good. Though I suppose there's nothing like a robot crop top to show off your rock hard robot abs....

Having said that, the pictures aren't the best, and it could very well end up working out.

Ah, that appears to be the case. I had assumed that there was a similar system to the 2.0 and 3.0 Heroes with a chest armor on top of the torso armor. This is apparently not the case for this batch.

Of course now the speculation about the core piece itself. They look like the space in the ring around the H is filled with grey, so either they're two-piece cores or two-color cores.

And if they're two-color that might explain why they're all the same instead of personalized.

Is it me or does Jawblade have the same head as Fangz? It seems to me that this whole thing could be sort of a prequel to 2.0 and 3.0, because if it were after wouldn't they still be updated with the 2.0 technology? I might be referring to the TV show too much. The heroes look like 1.0 versions bulked up.

That's what I was thinking, except the line between the two colors is far crisper than any two-tone piece I've seen. Maybe that's just due to CGI and what-not, but I can't imagine a marbled core being released.

Jawblade and Fangz very clearly have different heads. Similar in some ways, yeah, but overall quite different. And this being a prequel wouldn't work very well, seeing as Evo was either a 1.0 for a very short time, or created as a 2.0. I think these figures are very clearly updated with the 2.0 tech at least, aside from the helmets (and Breez's feet).

Also, just noticed that Breez's forearms are possibly white. That would be interesting- bone colored bone pieces. And from the backgrounds (as well as the specific modifications in the case of Furno and Breez), it's pretty apparent which Hero will be fighting which villain. Seems a little ridiculous that Rocka will be fighting Black Phantom all by himself, considering how new he is.

Rocka XL had two white bone pieces, if that's what you meant?

I had forgotten about Rocka XL's white bone pieces, and I was unaware they turned out to be grey. In either case, they were different bones from Breez's, so I guess I should have said "basic bone pieces."

I believe he does, if only because there isn't any reason for him not to. It's difficult to say with any real certainty, though. From his silhouette, however, it seems like he does. The top part of the blaster doesn't seem pushed as far back as Rocka's does, and Rocka uses an old styled hand which would explain this.

Ah, I see, thanks. Surge looks very cluttered, and I'm not a fan of that lime green, but if he comes with 2 hands I wouldn't mind buying him. (I'm weird like that.)

I know it's too early to say, but I'm praying and hoping for a LE set next year.

My preditction of the story:

Fire Lord, Thunder, Corrder,Jetbug, and a captured Fangz broke out of Hero Factory. On their way out, they discoverd a storage of Quaza, and they got mutated because of that. Fire Lord have also encountered Von Nebula's staff, and he took it, but Von somehow got released, and merged with Fire Lord, becoming Black Phantom.

It just makes them megablocks big and fat.

Why can't woman have normal hips without such a tremendous size?

Anyway, I noticed that SplitFace seems to have effing stitches or screws on the head when it separates. Freaking. Awesome.
