The young MOCers may not have seen the movie (Damnation Alley) ... but it's an iconic amphibious vehicle (LandMaster) that uses TriStar wheels

Well, it is an adaptation, but nothing near the actual landmaster ... in terms of proportions and looks. I was able to build smaller tristar wheels (with the Y liftarms from gigamesh) and those could be incorporated into a landmaster.

One day when I have time and pieces I want to make a modular tatra-esque solution so you can have 6x6 or 8x8, 10x10 up to 12x12 by just adding steering or normal modules in pairs of wheels

actually i building something different and for this huge thing i need first larger, and longer actuators. i only want to show you this cute thing.

zetros? hm looks cool, but on heavy offroad trucks i prefer M.A.N

the pinzgauer is really iconic but i dont like the tatra suspension which is possible with lego. when a tatra like suspension, then both half axles will have the pivotpint on the same axis.

i agree realistic tatra suspension is very challenging with 100% original lego but I have managed to put the differential in line albeit above the pivots and using the same pivot point...

its far neater to use almost tatra like suspensions

Basically like Nico71's elegant solution but with split central axle and diff on top (lockable too)

but look at the pinzgauer from underneath...... so want to do it in lego but maybe with custom parts....

wow! nice - very nice.... this way you can put a differential longitudonally on top - impossible to do it inline unless using custom hollow axles and gears - thats another story

How about making it possible to make a real tatra linear differential like the one in the attached photo.

I have made a large scale one, but i believe you can make one with 10t gears... For small scale... It requires though some custom parts...

For example a tube axle with a 10 tooth gear on one end and a 20t or 12t bevel gear in the other end... And something like the 6 hole pulley wheel the tube axle can go trough...Could you make something like that??

is my guess correct that the driveline from the engine is moving the small gears at the outside of the large spur gears?

Yes the differential is housed as a planetary unit buildt into the axle (I would want to have it in front of the axle).. With the small gears being the planet gears and the two middle gears in this case the sun gear... The input drives the whole outer ring or the housing which turns the shafts for the pinion gears. In this case two of them, again... How ever when one wheel slips the planet gears will transfer all power to that wheel. Just like a real differential will. Here are some more pictures:

PS: In my opinion it should be an addition to the tatra axle you already mad,e it looks great. So for that to be possible we need an alternate of the end "caps" which will allow for both the tube-axle and the regular axle to go through.

Maybe some combination of the tube on the right and the 16z technic gear with the 'teeth' from this picture will achieve a diff with only the tube and the cage needing to be custom?

can you build a fully mechanical sequential gearbox? i'm thinking of making one, but still pondering how to do the sequential part mechanically.
