3nslav3 Posted September 11, 2011 Posted September 11, 2011 (edited) Hey guys, I've been lurking the boards for some time now, I used to play a lot with lego when I was a kid but stopped when I got older. After seeing some lego sets at local stores I decided to buy a set and get hooked to lego again :P here is my WIP 8070 supercar with some mods: -V12 engine (V8 engines in lego are boring lol) -replaced the original "gearbox" with a 5 speed + reverse (a slightly compacter version of Nathanaël Kuipers conceptcar, the gear ratio's are the same) -onboard compressor -pneumatic doors, hood, rear wing -working incar steering wheel -modified hood opening mechanism the hardest part was the hood mechanism with the V12 engine, there isn't a lot of room in the front but so far i'm very satisfied with the result the car still needs work, mostly cleaning up and the interior can be a lot better youtube video: the pics: old pics: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/3nslav3/8070mod/_dsc9621.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/3nslav3/8070mod/_dsc9624.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/3nslav3/8070mod/_dsc9627.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/3nslav3/8070mod/_dsc9629.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/3nslav3/8070mod/_dsc9630.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/3nslav3/8070mod/_dsc9632.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/3nslav3/8070mod/_dsc9633.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/3nslav3/8070mod/_dsc9637.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/3nslav3/8070mod/_dsc9642.jpg Thank you for watching :D Edited September 25, 2011 by 3nslav3 Quote
sunnyx Posted September 11, 2011 Posted September 11, 2011 Excellent mod! Looks much better than the original one. Does it have a motor to drive itself? Quote
DLuders Posted September 11, 2011 Posted September 11, 2011 (edited) Nice modifications! Do you have some extra Technic Panels and rechargeable PF battery box to cover up the rear-end "baboon butt", like this? Edited September 11, 2011 by DLuders Quote
3nslav3 Posted September 11, 2011 Author Posted September 11, 2011 (edited) Excellent mod! Looks much better than the original one. Does it have a motor to drive itself? Thank you! no it doesn't have a motor to drive itself and i'm not planning to make it like that, a fake engine and working incar steering wheel is enough for me :P Nice modifications! Do you have some extra Technic Panels and rechargeable PF battery box to cover up the rear-end "baboon butt", like this? Nice!!! I've tried to place the original batterie box somewhere else but there is just no room :( is the AAA batterie box the same size as the rechargable batterie box? (cheaper) (=> edit: never mind, they are :D) I don't have extra panels but I'm thinking to order a few after seeing what you did ;) Thank you for the info and the tip!!! a youtube movie of the pneumatics: (sry for the crappy quality and the messed up cropped vid size -_- ) the 8070 deserves a lot better then the stock rear end Edited September 11, 2011 by 3nslav3 Quote
3nslav3 Posted September 25, 2011 Author Posted September 25, 2011 (edited) here is an update on the changes so far: small battpack PF connectors are HUGE!!!! working wheel, shifter and switch to turn the compressor on/off top of the 5 speed + R gearbox (credit to Paul Boratko) pneumatic rear brake-wing (that is hidden behind a panel while closed) back of the car with PF lights, hidden batt-box and 4 extra panels, the top panel flips automaticly open to make room for the wing using a very simple mechanism front of the car with PF lights modified suspension due to the extra weight and cleaned up the engine space the car also has 2 seats now and the compressor is hidden behind the drivers seat I have no idea what stuff I will change next, I'll see what I can come up with :P but so far.... this car is getting full :P Edited September 25, 2011 by 3nslav3 Quote
bord4kop Posted September 25, 2011 Posted September 25, 2011 (edited) Nice work! A lot of working extra 's in a small space, and still the car looks very good. And the opening front hood is really impressive! Well done sir! Edited September 25, 2011 by bord4kop Quote
SFRIP Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 (edited) Great work! I like pneumatics! Edited September 26, 2011 by SFRIP Quote
Jurgen Krooshoop Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 I really like the idea of this model having a proper gearbox and using pneumatics for the doors. Quote
