This is a reimagining of one of my first MOCs ever. I am trying to pump it as full of character as humanly possible.

It is articulated at the waist, hips, knees, shins, feet, and weapon pods. I revised the build tirelessly until it was rock solid, something a kid could actually play with and bang around a little.

Please ignore the color scheme for now, I was only using the limited parts I have on hand. Also, I'm open to suggestions for a name....

Thanks, yeah the legs were quite a bother to figure out. It's tough to make them structurally strong, well-articulated, and visually pleasing. Getting a minifig to fit in there was a challenge for me too.

Yea, I usually don't build very articulated mecha, mine are more along the lines of those from Spyrius. And I refuse to use most of the bionicle parts, because I had a strong dislike for that theme. Despite the ease of building mecha from the parts, it struck me as an unsettling departure from "true" LEGO bricks, and that is a road I don't want to go down.

I love Bionicle for what it is, but I agree with you that most of the time the two systems clash pretty badly. The Hero Factory system works better with System parts in my opinion. I must say I do really appreciate MOCs that make good use of all Lego systems at once though.

The bionicle system just struck me as being more one track and not as versatile as SYSTEM. I haven't paid much attention to HERO factory, as it struck me as just bionicle redux. what am i missing?

Hero Factory offers a really intuitive and quick paced snap-together system based around skeletal frames and armor shells. It's worth checking out but it's still in its infancy and doesn't really show its full potential until you have around half a dozen sets.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a color scheme? I'm thinking of everywhere from straight gray to a sky blue/yellow/orange deco....

Well, what theme do you have in mind for it? For that particular model, I would go with a primary black/ secondary dark grey/ tertiary white, with a trans- dark blue or trans neon green for your trans.

Just my opinion though

I'm aiming for a really whimsical tone with this mecha. The front details are reminiscent of a smiley face and I think the yellow face on the right weapon pod may make it into the final version. It almost looks vaguely frog-like to me, so yellowish green isn't out of the question.

I wanted to update the thread with some color schemes I'm exploring, I would love some input!

I'm leaning towards the white/tan/charcoal colored one!
