Hi everyone,

I just bought myself an 8868, and I had a few problems with the hoses. Because of the age some of it was cracking, and a few of the longer pieces were cut too short by the original owner, so the arm doesn't move as easily as it should. I was wondering if anyone knew of any sort of replacement? I know pneumatics are very popular as far as MOCs, I'm sure that not all of that hose can be the original LEGO stuff. Even with the proper hose dimensions, I'd probably be able to find something similar. I don't think I've ever seen this topic covered, perhaps I just couldn't find another thread dealing with it.

Any help at all would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

A couple of times before, I have ordered hoses off of eBay. I think i searched "lego pnuematic hoses". For the most part, the buyer can tell the seller the color an the length of the hoses they wish to buy. Hope this helps!

I've had great success when buying from Bricklink: http://www.bricklink...P&catString=530

It's easy to see color and length of what you're ordering - the only issues so far is that most (if not all) lots seem to display length in studs instead of cm like Lego use (in later sets anyways) and that some hoses doesn't feel exactly like the real lego hoses.

I have ordered in the past a (non-Lego) silicone tube with inner diameter of 2mm and wall thickness of 1 mm (this should yield an outer diameter of 4 mm). I have also mistakenly ordered a tube with outer diameter of 5 mm but I cannot get it through the holes in the bricks (otherwise the thicker tube behaves even better - less springiness in the system).

As for materials: silicone is the best, rubber is a bit tricky (can leave traces on connectors).

The downside of purchasing the non Lego tubes is that usually you have to buy a bulk of it (25 meters).

Thanks a lot! All of this is very helpful, I'm going to look into the couple of options you guys presented when I get home from work tonight.
