jasonsmith Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 I need help guys, LSynth will not work for me and I have spent that last 4hrs going around in circles. Windows 7/64bit Everything installed in the typical locations mlcad.ini file set correctly I have everything and I mean everything exactly as is written in this tutorial. When trying to run LSynth the command console says the following, 'C:\Users\A' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. The system cannot find the path specified. I had to take video of the console pop up and slow it down and freeze it to see what it says. I also get the first pop up shown on the troubleshooting page as linked below. I DO have the correct path set in the ini file though so this is what's confusing me!! I even set the wrong path and it took away the ability to even add a LSynth command in MLCAD, so MLCAD is reading the ini. I'm not getting any of the other errors as suggested here (Troubleshooting) so I don't know. Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 Have you tryind installing it on another drive , or c + 'program files'. Quote
jasonsmith Posted September 8, 2011 Author Posted September 8, 2011 Not another drive but I have tried many different locations, such as "Program Files", "Program Files (x86)", Base C:, I completely reinstalled the LDraw All in One Installer and that didn't help either. I don't know why when triggering the run command MLCAD isn't opening lsynthcp.exe the path is set correctly. Quote
1980-Something-Space-Guy Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 Hmmm, I really haven't used these tools for a long time. Do you have the "Lego Software Power Tools" book? It is very useful. Quote

I do but it's a bit old school unfortunately. I don't think MLCAD integrated LSynth at that time. LSynth was able to run on it's own with a given file with the right instructions. Here is a short video showing what is going on. All is stock as per the LDraw all in one installer that I last tried. I did modify the scan list only in the ini as you will see. If you do a pause/play while I get the error message you can read what it says. http://youtu.be/T20MaRtiN7A Quote

Hopefully somebody here will know how to solve the problem. Good luck! Quote

I just hope it's something silly that I am doing. 2+2 should = 4, but in this case it's = 3 Quote

jasonsmith Posted September 8, 2011 Author Posted September 8, 2011 (edited) Yep, using 3.1 Funny thing, shouldn't there be a LSynth.exe file in the LSynth folder?? I can't find it and in actual fact have never seen it since the old 2.0 version. The 3.1 installer is not installing it I think... ps. If you have the old version or a link to it that would be awesome. Edited September 8, 2011 by jasonsmith Quote
jasonsmith Posted September 9, 2011 Author Posted September 9, 2011 SOLUTION My Win7 user name had a symbol in it (&) which LSynth did not like, or maybe MLCAD didn't like it...idunno, something didn't like it. I Installed everything on a different account without a symbol in the name and it worked perfectly. Found a guide on how to change a Windows 7 account user folder name, the name is easy but it won't change the actual user folder name without a registry edit. Quote
