Hrw-Amen Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 (edited) OK, I finally got around to taking some pictures. I have posted them on Brickshelf. I have made up my Emerald Night and now have converted the passenger coach to 7 studs wide and have slightly modified the interior. I am building a second but just need one or two bits to arrive from Bricklink to finish it. I have also built some 7 stud wide Goods Box Wagons. I would like to have sliding doors on them and may one day geta round to doing that, or just building some others with sliding doors but these were all I had at the time. I also have some drop sided wagons but have not photographed them yet. I did originally build them 8 studs wide but they looked a little too wide to me for that. I then did them in 6, but that looked way too skinny so I have redone them as 7 studs which to me looks fine. I am currently building a station and will post photos when it is done, although that maybe some time. Edited September 6, 2011 by Hrw-Amen Quote
HighFlyer Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 Great work, I guess you have to walk sideways through the corridor to access your seat eh? I think the light bley tiles would look better on the roof rather than the 1x2 bley grille tiles, however. I am intrigued into how you modified this, I might try it myself! Quote
lightningtiger Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 Oh, I really like what you have done to the passenger car 'Hrw-Amen' .....wonderful modifications and neat rolling stock too ! Brick On Roll On ! Quote
Hrw-Amen Posted September 6, 2011 Author Posted September 6, 2011 (edited) Oh, I really like what you have done to the passenger car 'Hrw-Amen' .....wonderful modifications and neat rolling stock too ! Brick On Roll On ! Actually being quite a big chap I often find I have to walk sideways up through train corridors especially if carrying a bag. You are rpobably right about the roof but I just went with what I had available. I think my second one will probably have to have a black roof as I only have 13 of the grey sloping tiles, so until I get another from somewhere. I probably have enough black one to make both the roof on this coach and the second one under construction so if it looks OK I may change it to black as well. I am planning to modify the tender to 7 studs wide as well but have not got around to that yet. Not sure how to sit the battery box in with that configuration but no doubt I'll work it out in the end. Edited September 6, 2011 by Hrw-Amen Quote
Sokratesz Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 7 looks nice with the double chairs and single row in between. How'd you fix them to the bottom plates? Quote
Hrw-Amen Posted September 6, 2011 Author Posted September 6, 2011 7 looks nice with the double chairs and single row in between. How'd you fix them to the bottom plates? I used black jumpers and tiles on the baseplate, then a round of 2 wide plates in light blueish grey to build the walls onto. Over the floor of the coach I then used those minifig bases and a row of black tiles. (To make it 5 wide and to fill in gaps.) I also added ends so that they are blocked off. Otherwise my minifigs hats would blow off! Quote
22kane Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 Interesting choice of colors on the box cars. I like the design of them as well as the expanded EN coach. Nice work. Quote
Man with a hat Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 Nice wagons. I like the passenger car especially. I agree with you that 7 wide is the best looking (I am busy with a 7 wide myself) I also like the way you did the ends. Nice solution to the overly ventilated original. But I have to agree with HighFlyer that the grilles on top would look better in bluish grey. Besides that it is really good. Quote
Hrw-Amen Posted September 7, 2011 Author Posted September 7, 2011 I had the parts I was waiting for today to make the second coach. (I needed 8 more of the train windows.) so have now done that. I took a couple of photos which I have uploaded to Brickshelf to show how I made the coached 7 studs wide. I really was quite simple. They are not yet public but I will post them when they are. Quote
LEGO Train 12 Volts Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 Nice rolling stock and beautiful EN Coach! It's incredible how new possibilities there are with the 7 studs wide format: the inner details with two lines of seats are great! Very good work Quote
Hrw-Amen Posted September 7, 2011 Author Posted September 7, 2011 OK, here are a couple of photos of how I did the 7 stud wide bit. As I said it is really simple. Also a WIP photo of my railway station specifically measured to fit the Emerald Night. Still quite a bit to do to this though. Quote
roamingstop Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 Are the black jumper plates sat on top of a normal train base?... it is not quite clear from the photo. Quote
