jamie75 Posted September 5, 2011 Posted September 5, 2011 (edited) Not sure how "new" these are, but, I found them on accident on Brickshelf. They have sparked my curiousity. Anybody out there build any of these sets or with Ligao for that matter. The series itself looks like Lego Architecture, but, on a larger scale. I should say the first Lego Architecture. The series with the Sears Tower, Space Needle, Empire State Building, and the Hancock Tower, not Fallingwater or the newer Robie House. I am on the fence about picking one up just to see if I like them. There are 6 or 7 in the series. Besides the ones pictured there are also, The London Bridge, The Eiffle Tower, The Tian An Men, and The Spasskaya Tower. The rest are pictured here: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=472389 I like the look of this London Bridge better then the Lego version. The click hinges have always bugged me on the suspension for the Lego one. They look out of place. Using chains works better for it, IMO! Thoughts on Ligao, the line as a whole, any?? prateek Posted September 5, 2011 Posted September 5, 2011 Hmmm... This looks interesting. It also seems that every set has at least 1000 pieces. Either they are lying or the sets are really big. I wonder what they look like in person. Quote
Peppermint_M Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 Oh, I've never come across these sets before. Ligao seems to be a slightly dodgy brand so far. Their sets in my experience were of poor quality and uneven clutch. Also one or two sets they sell seem a little suspect. I will keep an eye open for those large sets. Quote
jamie75 Posted September 6, 2011 Author Posted September 6, 2011 Thanks for the response! When and if I pick one up I will post a review of it. I will shop around for one at a fair price with reasonable shipping so it may be a little while. Right now, I am leaning towards either Big Ben or the London Bridge. Thanks, Jamie Quote
crossmr Posted September 16, 2011 Posted September 16, 2011 I've reviewed a Ligao set. It was a horrible experience. I considered punching myself in the face just to cheer myself up. A year on, I think the pieces still stink. http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=44026&st=0&p=772567&fromsearch=1entry772567 Quote
Arigomi Posted September 16, 2011 Posted September 16, 2011 Also one or two sets they sell seem a little suspect. I'm not surprised if a clone brand copies LEGO sets. What did shock me was how they went about it. Instead of copying the 3-in-1 concept of Creator sets, they repackaged the alternate builds as completely separate sets. Quote

Clones are legitimate competitors to LEGO, bootlegs are ripoff who steal the designs and use brand confusion. Quote
