Hi everyone,

having just recently come out of the dark ages and also having somewhat of a Warhammer past, I have the impression that banners or standards seem to be suprisingly seldom.

In Warhammer, the army standard is one of the jewels of the entire army.

Take this as an extreme example: http://eldathres.de/images/Miniaturengalerie/Hochelfen_Armeestandartentraeger-Vorne.jpg

Besides that, every regiment has one standard bearer.

In LEGO however, this seems not to be the case. Most armies in the "show your kindoms army"-thread don't have one. It does not seem to be as popular a topic in customizing as for example torso decals. The Kingdoms line does not have any flags bigger than the 2x2. Everyone loves shields and horse bardings with heraldry on it, but big banners do not by far exist for every faction. I have seen a few brickbuilt banners but that limits the detail strongly.

Ninjago does an interesting thing in 2260, but that is just 2x4.

Is it just my Warhammer past that gives me the impression or do you feel the same? Why is that?

You've got a point Wardancer, I barely see armies with banner carries. Only one of my armies has one, and that is my orcs (one has an orc banner attached to a neck brace so he carries it on his back).

The orc banners are great, I wish there were some of these for every faction. I am also hoping for the joust set to have a big banner for the lions.

Games Workshop used to produce decal banners, most likely I'll use these for my elves.

There are of course other ways of producing banners

Not too many that I would be capable of:

- printing on fabric would be great but this would most likely be either very expensive or in a bad quality

- painting on fabic or paper would work but requires a level of skill I don't have

- printing on paper or trasnfer sheets could work

As someone who is in both camps, Lego and Warhammer I must say I feel Lego has too few and Warhammer goes too far.

I am not a real fan of banners that are too much larger that the figure who carries it. But I do like some banners. My Lego Orcs have a few and my Lego Dragon Knights have a few. But I do nto feel the need nor desire to use a lot.
