Hi folks,

There's a thought I've come across a few times and though I don't have anything to apply it to now, I think it might be cool to have a thread around to check.

Long and short of it: There's an ever growing number of sets that are really collections of potential smaller sets, and sometimes you just don't want the extra baggage. For instance, a popular current sentiment is that with these mixed up good vs. bad sets, you can end up not getting a good deal if you don't want the aesthetic of one side. And some times people just like architecture, or scenery, or vehicles, or arrays of loose props, and often you have to get it all mixed together

Let's talk about Dragons and Helicopters.

Some people wanna collect all the dragons, but lament the 'garish garbage' that is skeleton vehicles. Others are skellie vehicle completists (Dead bikers representin'!) but really can't bring themselves to justify getting that big set for the fraction that's what they're after.

So! I propose we list the partial sets we want and see if anyone is willing to chip in. Then you pick it up, break it up, and ship it out.

Other Examples of Easily Splittable Sets:

And we could possibly start databasing when we decide what the fair price splits are.

Anybody care to "beat the system" today?

Watch Bricklink - you can often find "incomplete" sets listed under the main set listing that are exactly this. For example, I know right now the 3677 train listing has numerous partial sets listed there. You can buy just one wagon, or just the truck, or just the locomotive, etc. That might be the easiest way, although then one person has to buy the full set and hope someone else will buy the parts they don't want :)
