Fallenangel Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 (edited) As of this point, I'm uncomfortable about saying anything 'desperately' needs a remake or re-release. TBH only one which came to mind was the TIE-fighter, which was showing its age and thankfully it was one of the first announced. The Interceptor needed a palette swap, which by Lego standards, justifies a re-release. They got the B-Wing/Y-Wing/X-Wing right second time around so I personally can't see much room for improvement. What else could be redone for 30th? After seeing 10212, I think The LEGO Group could revisit the Lambda shuttle and give us a better System version, preferably without the large printed windshield. Technically, we've only ever had one System Lambda shuttle (7166, which was reused in 7264) so it's even more wanting of a redesign than the TIE/ln. Edited August 29, 2011 by fallenangel309 Quote
Petit-bleu Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 (edited) Obviously i voted Lambda. The others are just not so iconic IMHO. It seems that you think the 3 will be redone? I think it's very likely that we'll get a playset (who said again?). Edited August 29, 2011 by Petit-bleu Quote
Lobot Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 A remake of 4479 would be great, although I guess that most fans would link it to the asteroid scene in ESB rather than ROTJ? Perhaps I need to watch it again.....! I’d like to see a remake of 7264, but I can’t see that happening whilst the UCS version is still in production. Quote
lightningtiger Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 I voted 6210 Jabba's Sail Barge, it would be cool to have one of these.....but try and keep my son's greedy little hands off it will be a problem though ! Quote
ButterMelon Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 I vote 6210 Gotta get more Jabba out there! I was just coming out of my dark ages when I passed on the sail barge. I've regretted it ever since. But I really wish they would rehash 4501 (the cantina) Quote
HJR-Holland Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 Bit of an unfair one, really; I think the sailbarge doesn't fit in with the others due to it's different price point. That didn't stop me from voting for it, though ;-) In all fairness: I'd like a new Flash Speeder. Curved green parts galore! Quote
K-Nut Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 I voted for a System scale Imperial shuttle. I would've voted for the Sail Barge but I have the original. I would like to see a Jabba with printings though... Jabba's palace? Quote
Ki-Adi-Mundi Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 I wonder that you didn't include a new Jabba's Palace (as a big set though) in your poll. AFAIK it is an often requested set for a rehash. Of the given options i voted for 7264. His majesty's inpection of the second Death Star is pretty awesome a scene. One could also replay Vader's prior arrival which also is a scene often quoted. As a new minifg we could expect Moff Jerjerrod. What i love about the LEGO set is that it also features some ground environment (the battle station with crane and gunnery emplacement), a gound vehicle (cargo transport with repair equipment) and a squad of Stormies to salute the arriving Emperor. For the Shuttle itself i would hope for some new buiding techniques to make it looking a little better. I could, however, live with the old one. In general the set is as iconic as it offers options for play (kid audience). BTW, the TIE Bomber is a EP V starship. It - and the Interceptor would make for great sets. I am only afraid a little that a rehash of them would make them as big as the upcoming TIE. a high price is to be expected which probably might seriously harm sales. Who would create starfighter fleets and buy 3 or so of each unless they don't come at about 30 bucks by today's standards?! Those were the good old times... Quote
Professor Jones Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 (edited) I really hope they will rehash jabba's palace and the sail barge, with more details and new alien figures. Imagine a big palace with a big door, a hall way where you would be greeted by bib fortuna and gamorrean guards. Then you would have the main room with jabba, his band and all sorts of weird creatures. In the basement, the droid maintenance room and a prison cell. Then of course you would have the rankor's lair. I'm just day dreaming here, there's not much chance that lego would make so many new figures, but I think it is reasonable to hope for an improved version of the palace along with at least 2 real new figures. Btw, why did they release the endor set now ? It would have made more sense if they did it for the ROTJ anniversary. Knowing that they did this we can hope for new jabba sets to be released before 2013. Edited August 29, 2011 by Professor Jones Quote
StoutFiles Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 Unless they plan on making the Sail Barge a UCS, they shouldn't touch it. They'll never build a system Sail Barge at a respectable scale. I vote for the Shuttle. It's one of the few ships I would replace with a newer version. Quote
jonwil Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 A new Jabbas set would be good, I own the original Jabbas Palace and its good. Maybe make it a larger play-set along the lines of the Endor bunker battle set with a rancor pit, prison cells etc. Oh and lots of minifigs. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 I voted for the TIE/in and TIE/sa. Both would look much better if they were less blocky and had the new wing design being used on 9492. BTW, the TIE Bomber is a EP V starship It's seen in the hangar that Vader's shuttle lands in at the beginning of Jedi. Quote
The_Chosen_1 Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 I voted for all of them except the Imperial Shuttle. I plan on getting the UCS version one of these days, that'll do it for me. Jabba's Palace is the set that really needs to be on that list, but I'd be happy with a redo of the Sail Barge as well. Quote
Hollander Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 I would say 4478; the TIE Bomber. It's a pretty old set and I think TLG has the ability and possibility (new parts, new building technices, SNOT etc.) to improve the TIE Bomber a lot. The two ''pods'', both the cockpit and bomb storage could be improved a lot by using SNOT techniques. And some betters colors too, instead of the blue. About the other options; I don't think the Interceptor would need much improvement. I think it looks cool the way it is now. The imperial shuttle might need an update, although Palpatine's shuttle was released not that long ago and we have the UCS Imperial Shuttle of course. Jabba's sailbarge looks good enough for me. Neither I think it can use a lot of improvement. However, the set isn't that recent anymore, so maybe in 2 or 3 years, I would like to see a new version of it. Including a better Jabba The Hutt. Ki-Adi-Mundi Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 (edited) *snip* It's seen in the hangar that Vader's shuttle lands in at the beginning of Jedi. Probably, i don't remember. But it first appears in ESB and thus it belongs to that episode (i.e. is iconic to it). Just like the Imperial Star Destroyer which of course does appear in ESB and ROTJ. Since it showed up in ANH first, it is a ship of the episode. Just like the SSD which was active before and after - it first showed up in ESB, being tied to that film. Just like the X-Wing showed up first in ANH... And many more examples. you certainly got my point. To me it just wouldn't make any sense to make something an anniversary set of an episode when it was prominent in a different one... Edited August 29, 2011 by Ki-Adi-Mundi Quote
StoutFiles Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 It's seen in the hangar that Vader's shuttle lands in at the beginning of Jedi. Can we be sure that isn't a TIE shuttle? Quote
Brickdoctor Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 Can we be sure that isn't a TIE shuttle? I'm not sure, but Wookieepedia does say one appeared in Jedi. Though I suppose that could just mean there was one at the Battle of Endor. (which wouldn't be an unrealistic assumption - with an entire sector fleet there, there must have been at least one deployed) Quote
Commander_Rob Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 (edited) A new system-scale shuttle would be nice. Considering how popular and well known the ship is, it's a bit surprising they haven't come up with a new design yet. 10212 is cool and all, but it's just a bit too huge and expensive. I remember seeing a pretty good Shuttle MOC a while back, using the part that appeared as a bus windscreen in City sets recently for the cockpit, but I can't seem to find that one again. Oh look, found it. Something along the lines of that. A bit bigger than the one we've had so far, but I always felt some extra size would do the shuttle good. 1980-Something-Space-Guy Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 I would like some good remake of the Emperor's Throne room. A bigger one. The ending of the saga happens there! I think I would rather have something more Death Star II related. And by the way, I would love it if we got a chromie R2 Isn't it about time? Quote
North Lego Star Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 (edited) I love this topic, I believe would shoud get... 1.A Jabba's Palace: it would be great if we got a new jabba, bib, guards(the one's with the tusks),a bounty hunter Leia, EV droid annd Most of all A RANCOR!!!! this would make this set impossible to say no to. 2.A desert skiff: it would come with a luke, han, lando(guard), a skif guard or two and a new sarlacc pit would be great. 3.A-wing fighter: an A-wing pilot and an mechanic would be good with a new RED A-wing. 4.Tie interceptor: a tie pilot and stromtrooper would be good. 5.Imperial Shuttle: this would be an awsome set with the empore,2 imperial guards,a shuttle pilot and vader. 6.AT-ST walker: a couple of ewoks, imperial driver,a han in endor rob and something like a rope or log system to "bring down the walker" would be great. 7.I know this was never a set but it would work, a ewok tree trap, throw in wicket and a death star trooper and it would be a cool set Thanks for reading Edited August 29, 2011 by North Lego Star Quote
