If lego know most of people are contacting them for the rare parts to recreate Cafe Corner and Market Street and not to sell on, why don't they just make them available on PAB at a reasonable price and this would bring down the over inflated prices for the parts on Bricklink?

Yeah good point. Has anyone called LEGO to see if they could make the 75 degree dark red slopes available on PAB?

You can get the black windows albeit with trans blue glass here:

http://www.bricklink.com/search.asp?q=3508%2D1

$20.00 for 10 with the glass.

As i said in my previous post:

if you type set number 10218 (pet shop) there, you can select te roof pieces.

Is there any way to buy them from there, i dont want them for free

Okay, I misread the numbers you wrote. My bad, sorry.

I'm trying the service out now, and I have a request into them. We'll see how it works. Maybe I'll start using that instead of Bricklink.

A little update to my fellow collectors:

9 of the 270 parts are not availble trought lego, the rest is there.

261 parts * there quanty = 290,00 euro's

The fellow 9 parts are around 50,00 on BL, thats including a 10,00 Euro Blue Arch.

Im now researching normal parts on BL to Lego and it seems that BL is ALWAYS cheaper, up to 50% !

I'm glad to see that BL is still cheaper. I had checked when PAB Online first came out, but I hadn't checked since.

It's good to know BL still cheaper, since I never even check PAB.

That's exactly what I've always thought. Lego is hugely expensive from TLC when purchased by the brick...

I pieced together Cafe Corner a few months ago. Cost me $380 USD total for all new correct parts. There are 3 difficult parts to get for this set. The dark red roof slope is not one of them...Lego will gladly you sell as many as you need if you call customer service, same goes with the 5 high door. Here are the difficult parts:

1) 1x8x2 Dark Blue Arch - out of production so Lego doesn't sell them.

2) 1x2x3 white panels for the windows - you need 20 of these. Lego modified this part a few years ago so no longer sells the correct part. The panel they do sell is indented on the sides so the window opening appears very small and ruins the entire aesthetic of the model. Very hard to get in quantity and prices reflect this.

3) Medium blue torso - again Lego modified this part a few years back. The original torso has big stitching while the new part has many tiny stitches.

If you want to use correct parts you are looking at $600 USD nowdays, so you may as well buy a new sealed set for $700 and save yourself many hours of work.

My advice if you are determined to piece this kit together is to buy as many of the parts off Bricklink as possible as Lego direct prices are much more expensive than the big volume dealers. Then order the missing parts from Lego. The above 3 parts you will have to accept are going to cost alot. Make sure you clarify in advance the white panels are the correct older ones and the medium blue torso has the larger stitching. I also pieced together Market Street for $300...again there are a few very hard pieces to get that really drive up the price.

With this news it bound to increase the price on the secondary market even further. Come on Lego, its time to bite the bullet and look out the original molds and re-release this fantastic creation.
