Vindicare Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 Very cool read. I didn't remember the connectivity of the sets. It was cool seeing that picture. Quote
Artanis I Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 Under 6035 you mention red & yellow, however it is red & white. I have this set - with the black triple plume intact! As the mounted knight in this set has black plume, helmet, torso, legs & horse I nominated him as "The Black Falcon" The minifigs for 6018 are certainly curious, I think they should have had a Black Knight shield, they certainly don't look Black Falcon-y to me. I don't think there was ever a Black Falcon minifig with chain mail. There's a certain type of charm to the Black Falcons, they don't seem evil at all, but an opposing faction with some level of honourable conduct. Quote
TheLegoDr Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 Interesting read! I always loved Black Falcons. Although, why are they the black falcons if somewhere else they were eagle crest? Eagles and falcons are different, are they not? Either way, I enjoyed their colors/crest and the fact they weren't super well known. They were my favorite for sure! After reading this, I definitely didn't have as many of sets as I thought I did. Quote
SirSven7 Posted August 24, 2011 Author Posted August 24, 2011 your title should be "Castle Historian" If only Legocrazy81, yep the conectivity was what made me most excited when I was young and its something I would like to see back, I felt the blacksmith attack from the new Knigdoms set missed an oppertunity, (give it a standard wall at the back and it could have been an add on for the King's castle). Artanis, I have now changed the typo (don't knoiw why I said yellow) and mentioned the possiblity of the all black guy being the Black Falcon (as I thinks it's relevent) I also have the set but lost all the black Plumes (i have had it for like 20 years so I think I can be forgiven), and as for the other set I am inclined to agree but feel the need to include it anyway because of the shield . TheLegoDr, Eagles and Falcon's are different, I believe it was a play by Lego to attract their american consumer, some americans are very patriotic and the idea of an eagle (an american bald eagle maybe?) would appeal more than a falcon (which is more of a medievil hunting bird from europe), though they do have Falcon's in america so I am not 100% sure, its just an opinion. Mr. Gray Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 All of these articles are excellent! And I too was surprised that you got two posts out in just a few days, but it was well worth the read. Keep up the excellent work. Quote

It's one of those ones isn't it... like the Royal Knights tower bridge with the "Dragon Masters/Knights" mounted knight with a Black Knights MkII (ovoid) shield. Some people say that that set is the final set with Black Knights. I say it's a Dragon Knight with "a typo" - the wrong coloured shield, and not Black Knights canon in my opinion. I quite like the black plumes, I think it's a shame that it was never used for the dragon plumes, and that they cost so much to purchase on Bricklink! Looking forward to the Forestmen post, they were my favourite daydream in the old Lego catalogues... Quote
