DLuders Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 (edited) On SeTechnic, Nico71 discusses his Lego Technic Orange Trial Crawler at length (in the original French and in this English translation). He provided these and many more pictures: Edited February 18, 2012 by DLuders Quote
nico71 Posted February 22, 2012 Author Posted February 22, 2012 (edited) In fact I don't use the portal hub of the unimog because the distance between the wheel and the center of steering point is really to big for trial truck. Trial trucks have not differential, so I put ackermann steering to increase the steering hability but in order to increase more, the steering point should be as near as possible of the wheel. Also, it reduces conseqently the needed space to steer. :) Edited February 22, 2012 by nico71 Quote

Rikus Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 Nico, first of all, I'd like to say the Crawler really Rocks! You're a really good builder, I've so much to learn... Are you planning to release instructions to build the Orange Crawler? Quote
rm8 Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 (edited) Beautiful sights, Nico! Alpine crawler? Moc looks like it is an original lego set, really cool. Cool climbing ability. And also cool frame body Watching video, it seems like springs are too hard for this light body. Don't you think? Edited March 7, 2012 by rm8 Quote
Sam42 Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 Great crawler Nico, love the chassis and the space frame looking bodywork, it looks nice and light and performs well, like the winch as well! what's it weigh in at? Btw someone mistook my landrover crawler for your jeep the other day on youtube! Quote
nico71 Posted March 19, 2012 Author Posted March 19, 2012 Some News ! First of all, I have written the review on my blog, not really new but in english with the pictures. The building instructions are on the way. http://www.nico71.fr/trial-crawler/ Secondly, Ansgar Mährlein, a AFOL follower of the nico71's facebook page has given me a special gift : the buildint instructions for my LPE 3 in line ! That was on my to do list for a while and I am glad that it has be done by Ansgar ! http://www.nico71.fr/lpe-3i-pro-building-instructions/ Ansgar has modelized the moc and created the building instructions with lpub4.0. It was a bit complicated to create the hose so I prefered make a layout helper with color. The moc has been indexed on rebrickable, still waiting for the approval. :) Quote
nico71 Posted March 21, 2012 Author Posted March 21, 2012 The building instructions are available ! You can download the HD PDF or browsing my blog : http://www.nico71.fr/trial-crawler/ The rebrickable link will be available soon ! Quote
jorgeopesi Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 Thanks Nico for a good instructions, I will do it, sure it has something new to show and I want to learn more and more. Quote

Kronos Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 @ Nico... Here's a picture for you. http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/camaro365/Crawler/100_3187.jpg I had to use red panels and the soft shocks. I don't own a Unimog. (yet) The soft shocks work ok, but I'll switch them to the 'Mog shocks when they get here. I had to modify the back a little due to parts I didn't have. Very nice MOC my friend. I've built your Jeep and Roadster also. Thanks for all the hard work, again. Quote
DLuders Posted April 8, 2012 Posted April 8, 2012 On MOCpages, Berhard Mollema posted 13 pictures of a motorized version of Nico71's Trial Crawler. He wrote, "Nico71's new crawler is excellent and I saw a change to turn the back axis into a steering axis. Also check http://www.nico71.fr/ So 1 xL motor for driving and 2 motors for steering." Quote
timslegos Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 So both the front AND rear axle steer? 2 motors for steering Yes he specifically wrote both axles steer and you can tell by the picture. tim Quote
bmollema Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 Yes he specifically wrote both axles steer and you can tell by the picture. tim Hi all, You guys are quick in finding this .......I hope you like the modification (extra steering) to this great design.... I also do not have the unimog so I needed to change the body with parts I do have.... Bernhard Quote
