lightningtiger Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 Thanks to the work of 'AwesomeTaylor' to inspire this AFOL into action......another W-I-P for me, here are some shots to start with...... Next door to join on to this will be another redesign of my modular hardware store from last year.....so this will be a heavy modified design with MOC included. Comments and suggestion always welcome and Brick On ! Quote
AwesomeTaylor Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 Awesome! I'm interested to see where you go with this, it's fascinating to see what decision you take when it comes to removing details that I kept, and vice-versa! Especially the modified balcony and the brickwork on the side, which I decided to keep for my next building instead :D Quote

More updates later on today......keep on watching ! Quote

Updated photos tomorrow.....once I have started on the next door structure. Brick On Modify On ! I converted mine to 18 wide a few months ago (see Here ), and i love it... When I get some more cabinet space, I'll restore it to its standard 32 wide form, but for now, it looks great! Edited August 23, 2011 by harmacy Quote

Yes, I remember now.....very nice work too, anyway the next door attachment will be the MOC - while the modified GG gets a slightly different roof. Keep watching for tomorrow ! Quote
lightningtiger Posted August 25, 2011 Author Posted August 25, 2011 Update time (still trying to get use to this new laptop )....... As you can see it will be a small old school hardware store, the radiator from the top floor of the GG is on display in the front window and on the back wall will be the hardware drawers containing screws, hinges, tap/toilet parts, etc.,. Comments, ideas and other suggestions are very welcome (this build is going to be a long term job, so there will be heaps of updates). Keep on watching ! Quote
sonicstarlight Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 All these mods of the Green Grocer help validate my opinion that it is the best of the modulars. 16-studs, 18-studs, 32-studs - it always looks stunning! I think I'll leave mine alone, though. Quote

I think I'll leave mine alone, though. Very true the GG is the best of all the modular designs so far and I still like original 32-wide design, but this redesign is going to be 48-studs wide in the end with the hardware store filling the middle and maybe a post office or something on the other side of the hardware store but matching the left hand side. Keep on watching ! Quote
TanTile Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 Wow LT it's so hard to keep up with you mate Doing so many things at one time, How do you keep up with yourself So the pub is on hold so too is the Shopping Center... oh and your Service Station... i still think I'm missing a few This MOD is looking great is this separate to New Mannum town or the beginnings of a New new Mannum Town? Thanks for the feedback 'TanTile', no this is separate creation to my town......actually the shopping centre I might do some work on in a minute as I'm running out of some grey parts. Keep on watching.......oh, here is another update..... Quote
Tamamono Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 Looking great, LT! I really like seeing your version of the GG in 16x32 (I actually think it looks tidier in this style). I have a couple of question, though. First, how many stories (not counting the roof) tall is the hardware store going to be? Second, I see a Dark Bluish Gray doorframe in the wall of the GG; will there be a way to move between the two buildings from the inside? Anyway, I'm looking forward to where you'll take this 16x32 modular theme! Quote
lightningtiger Posted August 26, 2011 Author Posted August 26, 2011 Thanks 'Captain Tamamono' and 'The Blue Brick' for your comments, oh, yeah the height of the whole structure will be two floors then a fancy roof as you see it......I'll have to buy some light bluey grey bricks next week to finish stages 1 and 2. The floor above the green grocer shop might become a bedroom - I still intend on making this 48-stud wide. Comments welcome still, plus keep watching for updates when I can ! Quote
lightningtiger Posted August 29, 2011 Author Posted August 29, 2011 Update time.....could get inspired enough today so far to work on anything else than this modular building. More to come, this is another long build for the tiger. Keep on watching ! Quote
lightningtiger Posted August 30, 2011 Author Posted August 30, 2011 Any suggestions for the floor above the hardware store, frontage wise that is.....I'm thinking different style windows compared to the left side ones ? Quote
lightningtiger Posted August 31, 2011 Author Posted August 31, 2011 This next floor only took half hour to build, missing some window glass though in the small windows....must search for them ! Opinions please, I'm more a open back MOC designer so comments very welcome indeed ! Keep on watching, more later in the week ! Quote
lightningtiger Posted August 31, 2011 Author Posted August 31, 2011 Okay, roof question for the middle structure.....flat roof or pitched roof just like the left structure ? Dam, it running out of grey parts, also that sand green too oops ! Quote
prateek Posted August 31, 2011 Posted August 31, 2011 (edited) Awesome job so far LT, especially since you aren't very used to this kind of building. I understand your dilemma too. Roofs are the hardest things to decide upon when building a building like this. But, since you've already made a pitched roof, I think you should try a flat one. HighFlyer Posted September 5, 2011 Posted September 5, 2011 Brilliant MOD of a stunning set. Try both a pitched and a flat roof, take photos of them both, and then we can decide which looks best? 100th post Quote
lightningtiger Posted September 5, 2011 Author Posted September 5, 2011 Brilliant MOD of a stunning set. Try both a pitched and a flat roof, take photos of them both, and then we can decide which looks best? 100th post Thank you 'HighFlyer', I'll try making them tomorrow when I did up enough slope pieces to continue the sloped roof to try out ! Stage three is going to be hard now as I'm running out of the right colours so a back-up plan I will have to come up with ! Any suggestions for the building to join onto on the right hand side ? Brick On everyone ! Quote
lightningtiger Posted September 7, 2011 Author Posted September 7, 2011 Very nice! Thank you 'Johny650', update....no more work carried out so far this week.....need to obtain tiles and extra parts to complete interior of hardware store, then it's roof and big problem - the right hand side structure ? I'll try in the next two days to get back into it....any suggestions welcome for the right hand side of this build ? Quote
