I got this set just a couple of days ago, I liked the looks of it as soon I saw the blurry pictures earlier in the year, the set seems to have been a bit harshly received from what I've seen on the net, it's not a big set and the tag Extreme might have raised expectations beyond what it delivers but it's still a great looking set.

Front suspension is a single spring and is surprisingly good, I was planning on making some mods to it and this was the first thing I was going to change, after having it built now and seeing it work, I'm quite happy to leave it as it is, but the rear suspension could do with being independent though.

The inside is crying out for a PF battery box and remote receiver set up and I think it would be a pretty easy job of making it remote control.

It's a great set. :sweet:

I just bought it this week. It's a decent set for my first car technic set. I immediately modified it with PF, really simple with an m motor and xl motor.

This set is very "limited":sceptic: , in Czech republic can be only buy via s@h and some e-shop, but with very high price because this isn't regular trading.Same situation in Slovakia and Poland...

I've gotten a 8081 the other day an instantly put a rc buggy motor into it an a m motor while maintaining most of the stock apperance an putting a v8 into it \o/

I own two of this set. The first I modded. V8, stiffer suspension in front, changed the hood. The second one was for parts only. Love this set! More MODs in store for it.

I made this model out of parts that I already had (before the official set was available - see this post), and I actually quite like this model. Some sections could be better, but it is a nice size, not too big or too small, and looks good. I like the front suspension, but the back could do with independent suspension, and the steering is a bit vague at times.

I also added Power Functions to it, using 1 M-Motor for drive, one M-Motor for steering, an IR Receiver, a Rechargeable battery box, and a set of PF LEDs. You can see some pics in this BrickShelf folder. Even if you don't want to modify the chassis too much, you can quite easily make it remote controlled. The only problem with my version is that the M-Motor is driving the rear wheels 1:1, so it lacks a bit of torque, and stalls as soon as it hits some bumps or an incline. Some gearing down would help here.

I have since bought the official set too, but haven't put it together... yet.

List of mods

1 lego rc buggy motor

1 PF m motor

1 pf receiver

Larger tire option for the factory rims.

Functional v8 engine (runs on the upper output of the rc motor so it spins rather fast :D)

Removed most of the external red lines an added a few details here an there on the body work

redone front suspension (similar to the rebel wrecker's front suspension with a 3rd shock attached to the left an right suspension)

The medium motor is mounted vertically to couple of bevel gears then to 2 knob wheels then to a 8t gear that connects to a 24t clutch (had to add a clutch otherwise turning would shut the AAA battery box down with the rc motor) wich then runs the 8t to the gear rack.

Drive train goes from the end output of the rc motor to a 8t gear to a 24t gear then straight to the rear axle which gives it decent speed an torque.

Still need to get the parts in to rebuild the rear axle to have more correct pendular suspension then it will be all good before I start figuring out how I'm going to make a 4 wheel driver version (will be wider by probably 4-5 studs at the wheels)

sorry about the poor grammar >.>

I picked one of these up today at Toys R us for my wife... I have to admit, this is a pretty weak set... It is a good set for black panels though...

I am also still baffled by the Light Blue Gray Smooth Toggle Joints used in the top corners of the front window... Completely throws the entire color scheme off...

No it does not an it would take some reworking of the chassi to make it 4x4 along with needing body modifications to compensate for the offset on the front wheels for turning. Its really not a 4x4 offroad model with the rear suspension its more of something that work well at "urban" environment.
