K-Nut Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 Althior wished to cast a spell form the first row.
CorneliusMurdock Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 Cronk try to bash gently to not hurt Mage Altair. Cronk attack Altair the Armchair standing in Front Row. Cronk sorry chair. Cronk hope defeating chair will free Mage Altair and not kill Mage Altair.
Pandora Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 Oooh! We have to defeat a comfy chair! So High Conjurator Altair's now a mechanical monster, good thing Althior has his lightning gem (and that no-one's using wind magic as their main attack). Party order: Cronk Althior Bacari Nyx Namyrra Sylph I would suggest the magic users are in the back row to aid magic use, and the physical attackers are in the front row. I would also suggest, Sylph, that you aim to hit rather than heal this round. I myself will cast fire upon this upholstered abomination, from the back row, of course.
Dannylonglegs Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 (edited) "Well, that's interesting." said Sylph as he took an offensive stance. "I don't want to hurt you conjugator, but I don't think I have much of a choice. I'm assuming that the logic here is hit something to fix it." "I agree Nyx, a heal would be pointless at this point." Sylph draws his crescent adorned staff and attacks the armchair brutally. "Again, I'm very sorry. If it's any consolation, I've heard staffs deal non-lethal damage." Oh, yeah, I'm in the front row. K-Nut Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 (edited) "Alright Nyx. I guess I'll actually use my lightning gem from the second row." Edited August 22, 2011 by K-nut
Quarryman Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 "Okay great leader, I'll be in the back row casting a Darkness spell. (at the armchair Altair, obviously)"
Capt.JohnPaul Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 My crossbow shall hurt this easily. Back Row and fire Crossbow
Sandy Posted August 23, 2011 Author Posted August 23, 2011 Results of Round One of the Armchair Battle: Cronk vs. Altair the Armchair - Critical Hit >Althior (Lightning) vs. Altair the Armchair - Spell >Bacari vs. Altair the Armchair - Special Damage >Nyx (Fire) vs. Altair the Armchair - Damage >Namyrra (Darkness) vs. Altair the Armchair - Great Spell Sylph vs. Altair the Armchair - Hit The battle begins. Cronk lands a great hit on the enchanted amrchair, causing 7 damage to it. Althior follows with an especially effective lightning-spell that zaps the chair for 8 points of damage. Just like that, the enchantment is broken. THE BATTLE IS VICTORIOUS! All party members gain a level of experience. The armchair drops a Grand Tonic. Party (after the battle): Althior Emorith (played by K-nut) Level 2 Mage Power: 5 Health: 6/6 Ether: 5/6 Gold: 5 Inventory: Dragoro (WP: 3) ,Topaz (Lightning), Potion, Bedroll Cronk (played by CorneliusMurdock) Level 2 Knight Power: 5 Health: 11/11 Gold: 0 Inventory: Longsword (WP: 3), Shield (SP: 2), Potion (2), Bedroll Signor Bacari (played by Capt.JohnPaul) Level 2 Ranger Power: 5 Health: 7/7 Gold:2 Inventory: Crossbow (WP: 3, poisoned), Potion, Bedroll Namyrra Uq (played by Quarryman) Level 2 Mage Power: 5 Health: 6/6 Ether: 6/6 Gold: 10 Inventory: Bone-staff (WP: 3), Amethyst (Darkness), Potion Nyx (played by Pandora) Level 7 Mage (Party Leader) Power: 11 Health: 11/11 Ether: 11/11 Gold: 17 Inventory: Dawnstar II (WP: 4), Ruby (Fire), Amethyst (Darkness), 2 Potions, Remedy, Tonic, Bedroll, 2 Bones Sylph Solanum (played by Dannylonglegs) Level 2 Cleric Power: 5 Health: 10/10 Ether: 6/6 Gold: 0 Inventory: Staff (WP: 3), Potion, Smoke Bomb, Remedy, Bedroll Party Leader, who shall receive the spoils of the battle? Grand Tonic (Restores 15 ether to the target.) After being defeated, the malicious armchair transforms back to the stupefied High Conjurator. "T-thank you! That was absolutely abyssmal, I've never felt myself more helpless. I do believe whatever spell came down that fireplace was the cause of this. I fear the same fate has befallen my relatives, so we must locate them as soon as possible. I know this isn't what you signed up for, but will you help me?" The wizard pleads for help. What will the party do?
Quarryman Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 "I think we should help the nice High Conjurator locate and rescue his other family members."
Dannylonglegs Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 (edited) "I concur, this has engaged my interests. So, High Conjugator, do you think the spell caster cast this spell down the chimney from the roof? Also what about that history monologue? Did you hear what the caster said before becoming a chair? Also, I think our mage Althior would be a good candidate for the tonic, as he has the lightning gem." Edited August 23, 2011 by Dannylonglegs
Pandora Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 Hmmm, OK I'll give the Grand Tonic to Althior - use it wisely! Yes Namyrra, I rather suspect that we should help the High Conjurator. Of course, High Conjurator! We'd love to help! Nyx's eyes glisten with the prospect of fighting more furniture. I wonder if the other red artefacts in here have anything to do with this, though? Saying this, she wanders over to examine the fine red phoenix.
K-Nut Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 "Thank you Nyx. I promise I'll use it wisely. If Nyx checks out the Phoenix, I'll check out Jun-Chi The red statue, just in case. High Conjurator, do you know anything about that purple light and/or why it came from the fireplace?"
CorneliusMurdock Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 Hooray! Cronk bash and help Mage Altair. Cronk think since we are already here we should help find other mages. Party should look for anything else different that other mages could turn into. Did Mage Altair recognize voice that cast spell from fireplace?
Capt.JohnPaul Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 All this may be connected, the Matriarch could even be furniture, and the same evil doer did the same to the other mages. After we check the fireplace and if there's no clues, I think we should search the rest of the hall.
CorneliusMurdock Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 Cronk think it funny that Mage Altair should turn into chair. Maybe whoever cast spell think it funny to turn all mages into something rhymes with name. Mage Mabel could be table. Mage Zed, bed. Cronk just thinking out loud. Cronk would like to examine any tables in room. Cronk see if nice Mage Mabel is table.
Sandy Posted August 23, 2011 Author Posted August 23, 2011 The party searches all the furniture and artefacts in the parlour, but none of them springs to life suddenly. The phoenix, the pterosaur hanging over the backdoor and the scary beast in the corner are just mounted monsters, long deceased. "I-I-I really don't know what happened", said the High Conjurator, still clearly in shock. "I do remember the room going dark and the voice and the purple light, but I don't know what this all means... Except... I do have an ominous inkling that I've heard the voice before... as a child..." Then the mage jumped up from the sofa he had directed to sit in. "No, we must not give into the oppressor, who - or what - ever he is! We will get to the bottom of this, and your help is much appreciated!" Altair then walked to the magically locked chest by the backdoor, and opened it. "I know this is preliminary, but I want you to take your reward now as you set out to solve this case. In this chest there are nine magic gems, one of each element. I want each of you three mages to choose three gems to aid you in this mission, but on the agreement that once this is over, you each will give one of the gems to your non-mage allies and return one to me, keeping only one gem to yourself. You all must agree to this before taking any of them." The High Conjurator waited for their reply. What gems would each of the mages choose?
Pandora Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 High Conjurator, I agree, and if we all agree, please may I have the Topaz (Lightning), Emerald (Wood) and Diamond (Light) Gems please? Nyx smiles sweetly at the High Conjurator.
CorneliusMurdock Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 Cronk thought of question for Mage Altair. Why family insignia is double headed phoenix? Does Mage Altair's family have dealings with phoenixes in past?
Sandy Posted August 23, 2011 Author Posted August 23, 2011 Cronk thought of question for Mage Altair. Why family insignia is double headed phoenix? Does Mage Altair's family have dealings with phoenixes in past? The High Conjurator shrugs as he hands over the chosen gems to Nyx. "I might ask why is the Hinckwell family's insignia a crown, then, or why the Shadeaux gather under the bat banner? It is simply tradition, although our family has always taken an interest in strange and eccentric animals. And truly, what is stranger than a phoenix with two heads?"
Quarryman Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 "Like my noble leader I definitely agree to your terms High Conjurator, and assuming that our third magical companion is in agreement I would like the Ruby (Fire), Garnet (Earth) and Opal (Ice) gems. Though, if Althior wants any of these I have no problems letting him have those."
K-Nut Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 "Alright I agree, High Conjurator. Then I will take the only three left which are Amethyst (Darkness), Aquamarine (Water), and Sapphire (Wind). I am fine with these Namyrra. Now where do we go, High Conjurator?"
Capt.JohnPaul Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 If anyone doesn't mind, I'd be fine with Ice, Light, or Topaz/Lightning. Anyone of those will be fine with me.
K-Nut Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 If anyone doesn't mind, I'd be fine with Ice, Light, or Topaz/Lightning. Anyone of those will be fine with me. "But The High Conjurator said only the mages started with them." Althior was confused. "Or do you mean for later?"
Capt.JohnPaul Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 "But The High Conjurator said only the mages started with them." Althior was confused. "Or do you mean for later?" Later of course!
Dannylonglegs Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 (edited) "Althior, I believe he meant afterwards. Just like I would like an amythest gem. Although if no one is willing to part with one, I'd be content with a substitute. Probably emerald." Edited August 24, 2011 by Dannylonglegs
