Peppermint_M Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 "Eight is a good number, as good as any Docken. All we can do right now is look and see what happens."
Brickdoctor Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 All we can do right now is look and see what happens." Indeed. Too bad this isn't like the maze, where finding the enemy doesn't depend on guessing...
Sandy Posted September 9, 2011 Author Posted September 9, 2011 The party searches through the haystack number 8, and find the first Battle Ant. The monstrous bug hisses at them, but stays immobile. Which stack will the party search next? 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9
Brickdoctor Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 Yay for me! Anyone have anything against trying 3?
Fred Fred Burger Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 Yeah three was what I was thinking as well.
Tamamono Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 "Good work Ranger Docken, there's hope for the farm yet! It's all guesswork here, so Stack 3 is as good as any."
Peppermint_M Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 "Maybe the fates will smile on us. Three is as good as any other."
Sandy Posted September 9, 2011 Author Posted September 9, 2011 The party searches through the third haystack, and much to their surprise they find a Grand Potion. The Party Leader must decide who gets it. 1 x Grand Potion - Restores 25 health to the target. Which haystack will the party look into next? 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9
Brickdoctor Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 I'll put the Grand Potion into the pool of items awaiting decisions. (in other words, I'll hang on to it for now and give it out to someone later when I know what other items we've obtained) How about Stack 9?
Tamamono Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 "Well, that was certainly a pleasant surprise! We haven't hit any of the fire bombs yet, so it's fine to keep on guessing. Stack 9 it is!"
Sandy Posted September 9, 2011 Author Posted September 9, 2011 The ninth haystack is revealed to contain a much sought-after Phoenix Essence. The Party Leader will need to decide on who gets this item as well. The party is reminded that items cannot be traded during battles without spending a turn. 1 x Phoenix Essence - Revives a fallen ally with full health during a battle. What is the next stack up for inspection? 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9
Tamamono Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 "A phoenix essence!" "That will certainly come in handy in a tight situation. So we've found one ant and two items, so there are three fire bombs, two ants, and one item left. Which one should we check next, Ranger Docken?"
Fred Fred Burger Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 I think we should decide how to divide all this great loot after we find the second battle ant:wub:, it might make the difference in saving this last field:wink:. In think we should go for haystack six.
Sandy Posted September 9, 2011 Author Posted September 9, 2011 The sixth haystack reveals a Grand Tonic. The party is on a lucky streak. 1 x Grand Tonic - Restores 15 ether to the target. Which stack is next? 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9
Brickdoctor Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 I was thinking the same thing, Christopher. I'll hang on to the items, for now, until we find the second ant, and then I'll make some decisions if I have to. Stack 6 is as good as any.
Tamamono Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 "Three items in a row, what are the odds? We still have two ants and three fire bombs left in the remaining haystacks, so we best be careful. How about stack number five next?"
Sandy Posted September 9, 2011 Author Posted September 9, 2011 The party looks into the fifth haystack, and finds a second Battle Ant. Now they only have to find the last one and defeat them in battle in order to save the field. Which haystack will the party search next? 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9
Tamamono Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 "Wow, we're doing quite well today! Five stacks searched and not a single fire bomb among them! So which stack should we search next?"
Fred Fred Burger Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 Alright I think that Hay Stack 2 has the last ant in it, but I would like to Wait until Ranger Docken has decided how to divide the loot before we check it. And I would be happy not to take an item if it would make it easier for you to decide how to divide it.
Peppermint_M Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 "I think we will only find ants and fire bombs in the stacks now, no more items to be found. If we had nine stacks and three items, three ants and three bombs, it all stands to reason. I may be a barbarian but I learned my figuring!" She paused and looked at their earlier searches. "I too think stack 2 is the one to search"
Brickdoctor Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 I never thought we'd do this well in our wildest dreams. Okay, Tomas is the only one who can use ether, so naturally, I'll give Tomas the Grand Tonic. Christopher has the highest health, so he can best take advantage of a more powerful healing potion. I'll give Christopher the Grand Potion. The other two are significantly more valuable, so I don't want to permanently hand them out yet. Nevertheless, I think it best if the four items are distributed, so we can use them quicker if we need to. I'll hang on to the Dread Hat, since I have the lowest health, and I think I can trust Tesni to hold on to the Phoenix Essence temporarily, until the battle is over, unless the party collectively decides that it's needed during the battle. Oh, and Stack 2 sounds fine to me.
Peppermint_M Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 Tesni accepted the vial and stowed it carefully with her mead and potions. "If it is needed I will hand it over, if someone could use it better I will give it to them."
Tamamono Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 "Thank you very much for the Grand Tonic, Ranger Docken! Now we're free to check stack 2."
Sandy Posted September 9, 2011 Author Posted September 9, 2011 The party's bug catching operation proves to be highly successful, as the second haystack unveils the last Battle Ant. The Fire Bombs were on the three untouched stacks, but the party does not have time to think about them now. They need to defeat the three ants in four rounds, or the field will be ruined and the whole quest will fail. PREPARE FOR BATTLE! Brickdoctor Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 Alright! Can't say I'm excited to face enemies who could kill us all in one round, but I'm excited that we found the ants so quickly. Order of Actions: Christopher Thrain Bartholomew Jess Tesni Tomas I suggest we have four heroes attack Ant A and one hero each target Ants B and C. I'll attack Battle Ant A from the Back Row.
